How many eggs based on AMH

I'm 36 and AMH hovers around 15. Can anyone advise how many eggs and blasts I should be expecting at EC? We will be doing PGS too

Thanks

AMH doesn’t necessarily correlate with the number of eggs you will get, AFC is probably a better judge of that. Ive seen people on here with very high AMH and it doesn’t necessarily mean they got lots of eggs as amh refers to a rough estimate on of how long to have until menopause/how many total lifetime eggs you have left, AFC shows roughly how many follicles you have on each ovary available for stimulation in that cycle, which will give you a better idea of many eggs you’re likely to get from that cycle. So I’d ask for your AFC number to get a better idea of what to expect.

For reference my amh was in the high teens (I’m just under 35) and afc was about 18. I got 20 eggs in my first cycle (had about 30 follicles overall in the end, but many were too small for eggs), 14 eggs of which were mature enough to use. I haven’t made blasts yet so can’t advise on that bit. I got similar in my second cycle. Based on what I was told I’d, on average, expect perhaps 2 viable blasts for freezing/transfer from those 14 if everything went well and roughly about 50% chance of a live birth from every 10 eggs (for under 35).

I think I’m about average for my age and amh/afc. Certainly my clinic were very pleased with the number of eggs etc. You wouldn’t want more than 15-20 eggs collected at most per cycle ideally as the live birth success rates don’t improve much beyond that and the egg quality goes down and risk of OHSS goes up significantly. you have similar age and amh so perhaps it would be roughly around similar to what I got if your afc is also similar (as your age and amh are good and in normal ranges) here is a decent website with some breakdowns that I looked when I was reading up on everything, but there is a lot of variation out there so take it all with a pinch of salt! extendfertility.com/what-your-amh-level-really-means/

Best of luck!

In my case AMH showed nothing. If fluctuated within normal range together with the AFC and they together didn't predict anything, neither the eggs retrived nor the final blasts. 10-15 AFC is the optimum number to start with, but again at the end if the day it's how the body responds to the meds.

I was 33 when I had my AMH measured to 17. I have had my antral follicle count measured in three cycles, and it varied pretty significantly - 16, 26 and 14. I had egg retrievals in the first and third cycle (go figure) and they retrieved 5 eggs each time. But I think the number of eggs retrieved vs AFC has more to do with the stim protocol.

It's not as simple as that unfortunately

My AMH was 12 - AFC of around 12-15
How many eggs depends on your protocol - mine ranged between 2 and 15 depending on level of stims.

Blastocysts wise assuming you don't have MFI I'd say roughly 70% of whatever eggs you get might be fertilised successfully but I know many women for whom it more like 20-50%. Of which of those maybe only 50% of those maybe be grade 1 or 2 and in my experience only those grades made blastocyst

Most clinics no matter the protocol generally aim to get you just one to transfer and one to freeze. Anything more is a bonus and highly unlikely unless you are in your 20s

@Conundrum12345 I agree with all the posters above. It’s really a lottery, there are averages but people can have very different responses even with the same amh, afc, same stims. I had higher stims for my second round yet ended up with slightly lower number of eggs (only two less but considering it was a higher dose of stims you’d hope it would be more than the last round!).

AMH is 20.7, am 40 and have got 8, 12, 13 eggs in each cycle. But never have had more than 2 day 5 blastocysts however many get fertilised.

Thanks all. Wish I had a magic 8 ball sometimes!
