Hi everyone, just hoping for some advice. We are about to be referred on nhs for consideration of IVF. We are SW London CCG; which hospitals could we be referred to? Any recommendations? Wait times etc particularly helpful. Thanks :)

Commenting to follow this thread as will be in same boat in a few months! Hope all goes well for you :)

Frenchwindows · 23/06/2022 07:36

Commenting to follow this too! We sent off our funding application to Kingston ACU about four weeks ago and are still waiting to hear back :)

Agapanthus13 · 23/06/2022 21:07

@TheKitchenSinkkk our GP offered St George’s hospital or Chelsea & Westminster hospital. I think if you want to go to one of the private clinics you have to get refers to the hospital and then get them to refer you on. We just stuck with the hospital as thought it would be the fastest route.

@Frenchwindows I’ve just received my funding application form. Did they get back to you shortly after your post?

Frenchwindows · 28/07/2022 08:31

Unfortunately not, it’s now been 9 weeks. Have chased and chased and apparently the forms were sat in an inbox not looked at. I’m expecting another wait of 2 weeks

Spin101 · 28/07/2022 11:00

That’s terrible, I’m really sorry to hear that! It is concerning how slow the admin process is. It took 4 weeks to receive my application form after speaking to the doctor and I’m not sure why. I hope you hear back very very soon!

Frenchwindows · 30/07/2022 14:48

So disappointing :( Fingers crossed for you it all goes speedily x

Frenchwindows · 11/08/2022 06:15

I received a call and funding has been approved so now have the initial appointment booked in for the start of September!! Thank god. Hoping that the actual cycle starts v quickly after that as I’ve had loads of tests (bloods, hycosy, lap) already!

Have you heard anything yet?

Spin101 · 11/08/2022 08:38

@Frenchwindows That’s great, I’m really pleased for you! Fingers crossed your cycle starts soon after that initial appointment! Keep me posted please.

I called the admin office the day I submitted the paperwork and they said they would forward it on for funding approval. Who did you contact to check the status of the funding approval?

After my lap, the consultant mentioned a 4 month wait for IVF (this was at the end of June). He didn’t say which point that wait is from though. I hope it’s from when I spoke to him!

Have you been taking any supplements other than folic acid? I’ve read about acupuncture pre IVF but I’m not sure about it.

Frenchwindows · 02/09/2022 10:12

@Spin101 Sorry I missed this!! Have you heard anything? I contacted the overseas bit and then the normal email addresses. I basically cc’d in any email I could fine to everything I sent hahaha.

To be honest it’s been almost 4 months exactly for us from referral and speaking to the consultant to this first appointment next week.

Yes have been taking folic acid as regularly as I can but honestly I’ve been doing it for 2 years now so have definitely forgotten some months and been better at times than others. It’s just dragged on and on so much that it’s hard to keep properly consistent with it!

Hoping you hear soon if you haven’t already.

Spin101 · 02/09/2022 10:19

@Frenchwindows no worries! I heard back last week and have my initial appointment at the end of the month. I filled out the online forms and didn’t realise it’s a transport IVF centre and that we have to transport the follicles to kings!! That stressed me out a bit.

I’m the same, it’s been 2 years on folic acid. I’m remembering to take it regularly now.

I hope your pre ivf consultation goes well and treatment starts soon after!

Frenchwindows · 02/09/2022 11:04

@Spin101 oh that is brilliant!! Yes I was a bit apprehensive about the transport too but apparently it’s all easy enough and my partner will just take a taxi or drive.

and thank you! My period starts literally a day after the appointment so I am hoping and praying it can start immediately. Although all this discussion about the shortage of Buserelin is making me a bit worried. Hopefully there’s some way around it or I’m on a different protocol!

Spin101 · 02/09/2022 15:32

@Frenchwindows Fingers crossed for you!

I hope the shortages won’t be an issue for us after waiting so long!

Did the hospital send you any leaflets on the different protocols? I need to read up on them. There’s so much on google, it can be quite overwhelming.

Frenchwindows · 07/09/2022 12:45

@Spin101 no delays!! Woohoo! And they were so good at explaining all the protocols in person and which one we’d be doing and why. I found their online info booklet in the ‘downloads’ section really helpful and thorough :)

Spin101 · 11/09/2022 21:18

@Frenchwindows that’s great news!!!! I’m glad to hear they were really clear with their explanations.
How are you finding the injections? I’m not great with needles but will need to just get over it!

@TheKitchenSinkkk @Imisscoffee2021 @Frenchwindows @Agapanthus13 @Spin101

Hi all - I know this is an old thread but I am also wondering which hospitals/ ACUs we can get referred too.

We are SW London ICB - I had a read of the policy on the website but it does not list the actual hospitals/ centres where we can be referred. Still waiting to be seen in fertility clinic but would like to know what options are/ where we are able to have NHS IVF for SW London ICB

Thanks!
