TTC for four years

Hi everyone 👋

I'm going to try and get involved in this community as much as I can on good days and bad (hopefully more of the good to come)

My partner (36) and I (35) have been TTC for 4 years now and recently went to get tested.

My day 21 test came back normal and I am ovulating and blood tests also confirmed I don't have a thyroid problem.
My cycle is regular. Pretty much every 27 days and my period lasts for 3 (I alway worried that was too short) but this has been normal for me my whole life. I have a regular flow for the 3 days.
The other thing that worries me now is I'm slightly overweight. I wasn't when I started this journey but the stress of it has basically put its toll on me.

My partner has had two sperm tests both came back with low sperm count and volume with debris in it (didn't understand the last bit).

We use a cycle tracker app and have sex on all my fertile days. I am that attuned to my body I know when I'm ovulating. My app, discharge and ovulating tests confirm this

We have started using 'The Fertillly' for the past 3 months with no luck and I have just purchased The TwoPlus sperm guide.
We also take Procive Max conception vitamins

As you can see I yearn to be a nother before it's too late.

Any advice or support you guys could give would be much appreciated

Xxx

I'm sorry you've not had any luck trying naturally. I'd be pushing your GP for an infertility referral. When we'd been trying for a year I asked our GP to refer us for further tests. They did a pelvic scan, hsg and a hysteroscopy. That took about 9 months until we were referred for ivf and then there were delays due to covid. It's not guaranteed that youll need ivf, but with your partner's sperm results I'd be wanting to see a specialist now x

It sounds to me like you need proper fertility treatment. After 4 years and with sperm issues I’d say it’s unlikely to happen naturally for you.

Watermelonsugarbye · 16/06/2022 15:50

What someone above has said, push GP for a fertility referral, if male factor and no luck in 4 years you’ll likely need treatment (speaking from experience) Xx

I was trying for 8 months but hitting ovulation so well I knew something was wrong when it wasn't happening. My husband had his sperm tested after my tests came back fine and he has low count, morphology and motility. He has a varicocele that's been there ten years despite a GP saying he didn't have it when he was 34. Now he's 34 and infertile, snd we've been trying for 13 months. An op to embolization the varicocele didn't work so we will do IVF with ICSI to hopefully concieve now. His sperm count was about 3 million, 2% morphology and 15% motility, if your partners is similar then it's unlikely natural conception will happen, the urologist we saw said it was be a miracle if it happened for us.

Correction when he was 24 the GP misdiagnosed him and having a large varicocele has rendered him infertile at 34*

Hi @Moonly My partner and I have been trying for over three years now. We have had our tests back ( I have multiple fibroids) my partner has low sperm could , 0% morphology) we were referred to clinic - which is our case was delayed due to paperwork going missing. I’m now waiting to start treatment ( IVF with ICSI)and waiting for a nurse call back.

all the best and my advice is call , email, call ask for updates etc

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. We have been referred by our gp and have had more tests. There's nothing they can find with me and my husband's sperm count has went up from 32 million to 70 millon which I think is to do with our massive diet change an no alcohol. Morphology seems to me to still be scarcely low going from
5% to 7% but apparently above 4% is normal.

I've attached the results just to give other people who are curious or want to try and understand how they measure it. It shows what they perceive to be "normal" in the first collum. These lab tests are done by NHS Scotland others might have different ways of measuring.

I hope it helps people.

I will update people on how any further appointments go.

Right now I feel really tired and nauseous and I'm due on on Saturday and never had PMT symptoms like this before. So fingers crossed 🤞

Sorry you are having a tough time.
I think you need to see you GP and ask to be referred for IVF.

@Moonly your journey sounds similar to mine- we have unexplained fertility as we were trying for years and never an inkling of a line. I was referred for IVF last year/ had my first cycle in March and 2nd was just done I had a BFP and am 5weeks and 1 day pregnant it's very early days as transfer was only 17 days ago.
Please push to be referred for fertility treatment.

Moonly · 04/08/2022 16:45

Congratulations @Moonly that's fantastic!! You must be over the moon :)

I forgot to update but I had a baby boy via ICSI in July, first round of ivf and 2nd transfer :) he's 8 weeks old now and I'm exhausted 🤣
