Hi all,

Thank you for reading this post. As the title suggests really. Please could you share your story/experience in TTC baby 2 after fertility treatment for number 1. It can be positive or negative.

We have the frustrating diagnosis of unexplained infertility. We had 3 iuis for baby no.1 and all failed. We then moved on to IVF. One fresh transfer and it failed and then we had our son in 2020 after our 1st frozen transfer. I am extremely and eternally grateful. We have some frozen embryos left and had a transfer recently which failed. Frustratingly we did the exact same process as when we were successful but it didn't work this time. We will go again but I am mentally gearing up for another egg collection.

Any other stories/experiences would be gratefully received, thank you.

Not sure if this is the type of thing you’re after but I had ivf for baby 1 due to low ovarian reserve. As soon as my period came back after breastfeeding I wanted to try again naturally (and then consider ivf too) as my expectation was that it would take years or may not happen at all.

the result of all of this was that I got pregnant naturally on the first month of trying and now have two boys with a 16 month age group between them!

was a shock but just shows you - it can happen!

“Age gap

You have basically described my situation but without the Iuis. Unexplained infertility. 1 egg collection on Nov 2018 1st fresh transfer failed but 3 embryos frozen. 1st FET in feb 2019 resulted in our son born nov 2019. 1st FET trying for baby no. 2 in April 2021 resulted in a mmc at 10 weeks with exact same protocol as our success. 2nd FET again same protocol in sept 2021 was successful and currently 40+4 waiting patiently for him to arrive

@Ilikeviognier oh wow, I bet that was a huge surprise for you! A 16 month age gap...how lovely but I bet very tricky early on!

@Noideamuma huge congratulations! I hope you're not too uncomfortable at being overdue. Yes, your story does sound very similar! I am not sure what to do now...I was thinking of trying a natural cycle for our next go but maybe we should do medicated. Do you remember what grade your last embryos were? I'm not entirely convinced on our remaining ones...one is something like a 2bb and the other is a day 6 but with a higher grade.

I am in a similar situation. IVF for first baby. We have a frozen embryo but the grading isn't as good as our first fresh transfer.

@Zest11 im not 100% sure on gradings but I know our failed fresh was supposed to be the best and then the other 3 frozen were similar grades but not as good. I know we are very lucky to have a 50% success rate. we had already made the decision if our last one didn’t work that we were going to stop as I didn’t want to do another stim cycle. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
