Mild IVF abroad +40

Hello Everone
Can anyone have an experience of having natural or mild (mini) Ivf abroad using your own eggs, please?

I am 40+ and have researched some clinics to have the first treatment in Aug. Some people mentioned Reprofit and Gennet in Czech Republic are pretty good and reasonable (important!) and I will have a consultation with both of them in June.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me about your experience with the two clinics above or any recommendations of other clinics or any tips to chose one.

Many thanks!

I had mine in North Cyprus, in Dunya IVF. I visited them for two weeks and after my transfer was done, I was ready to go. Check their Instagram if you want, and ask for a free consultation, I should think they still offer it, mine was in November.

I liked the experience, and one forum user (from America, I dont remember her name), suggested that I treat it as a vacation. She travelled to a summer destination too, Bahamas, and she gave me some really good tips on how to spend the 2 weeks abroad.

@IsabelHerna Thank you very much for your reply.

May I ask you a reason (s) why you chose the clinic?
Do you think it was the best choice for you?

So far, I have exchanged a few emails with Retrofit and I am pretty happy that they kindly answer my question quickly every single time. I am having a consultation with a doctor next week so see how I feel…

I think it’s a really good idea to have the treatment as a holiday! Otherwise, the process of the treatment would be so stressful…

Hi, I'm looking into IVF abroad in Cyprus, Spain and Greece. I've had several consultations and different offers of treatment from each one! I'm 43 and would like to use my own eggs. I've been offered cytoplasmic transfer in Cyprus, to improve success with my own aging eggs. Has anyone tried it? Has it worked? I'd appreciate any advice, thanks

Where did you get all of the tests done that the clinic ask for? Did your NHS gp help with any of them?

Hi, my journey so far has been mixed. We travelled to Northern Cyprus in February and it was not a good experience, even after doing lots of research, calls and consultations with lots of clinics I thought we had chosen well but sadly not. I'm 40+ and have been told many times that my chances are extremely low due to aging eggs, I understand this but after our last try I still want to give it another go. I had 9 eggs retrieved, 1 with no DNA, 6 mature and 2 small ones. 6 fertilised, made it to day 4 but not to blastocyst on day 5. We received this news by text while waiting for the taxi to take us to the clinic! Medications were incorrectly sent, not enough sent and then different ones sent once I'd started taking them. We are using a clinic in the UK called Now Fertility and they have been amazing so far, answering all questions and talks with the UK Dr overseeing our care. We will travel to Tunisia for egg collection. They work alongside clinics all over the world and one in London so you can choose a clinic to suit your budget. They co-ordinate it all it all feels a lot more professional and safer doing it through a UK base.

Thanks so much so much for sharing your experience. I wish you lots of luck and baby dust for your next round, fingers crossed!

Thank you for recommending Now Fertility we had a consultation with them today and they seemed really helpful. I have some of the basic tests booked in Glasgow in the next few weeks and then also exploring Tunisia. We actually go there on holiday in the summer and contemplating this route in the timings fit in. Do you have a date to go over? Have you found the cost of medication reasonable? I have no idea what to expect for the meds you needs but many people have told me its a lot.

Hi, yes they are really helpful I spoke to Anna Sofia and another Anna, our Dr was Dr Nardo and he was very nice. Unfortunately we have decided not to go abroad because our prescription invoice was for €2495 which is about £2200. This was for the protocol recommended to me, yours maybe different due to age and hormone levels etc. With medication costs, it just brought the total to more than we can manage. I've never been to Tunisia so that was a concern for us and we couldn't find travel/accomodation near the clinic flying from our local airport. Again you might find it easier from Glasgow. I'd recommend you get an accurate price for meds from them before you go ahead with booking any additional private blood tests. We paid £330 for additional STD checks that Tunisia requires but we now won't need them. Hope this helps

Hi all I am just checking in on this post, how have you all got on. I have just been told I can no try for IVF on the NHS :( so sadly my next option is to try this elsewhere, I cannot afford UK prices so am looking abroad but I just don't know where to start, also do I need to get some tests under my belt from my GP if so what is it I need to ask for. Its such a minefield isn't it, any help is massively appreciated.

Hi, I don’t have personal experience with the transfer myself, but I came across some promising statistics a few years ago. I’ve also read a few posts from women who weren’t satisfied with the procedure. Each case is very individual, and outcomes can also depend heavily on the clinic’s experience and approach. You might want to check whether your clinic is listed on websites like Fertility Clinics Abroad or Fertility Road—they’ve run awards in the past and usually feature top-rated clinics known for high success rates and excellent patient care.
Additionally, some clinics host webinars—sometimes even through third-party platforms—where you can ask questions directly. It’s worth asking your shortlisted clinics whether they’ve run any in the past, and if so, whether recordings are available. These often include FAQs and patient stories, and you might find cases similar to yours.

A few friends of mine had first- or second-time success with a clinic in the Czech Republic, but they underwent IVF with donor eggs. Before that, they had unsuccessful IVF attempts in Poland, and it turned out that the Polish clinics had misdiagnosed them. As I mentioned above, the two websites I referred to provide detailed clinic profiles, and some even include patient reviews, which can be really helpful when researching your options.Hope this helps!
