Ivf or iui

Me and my partner have been ttc for nearly 3 years, I've had 3 miscarriages (unexplained) so getting pregnant isn't the problem it's keeping the pregnancy, we've been looking into ivf and iui but unsure on which one would work better for us. Could you give me your experiences please . We're heading more for ivf with success rates.

Hi

Didn't want to just read and run, personally I have no experience with iui but my best friend had started off with iui for her first pregnancy. Unfortunately for her, her body did not respond appropriately to iui and had caused early OHSS. She was then moved onto IVF and it worked first try, she now has a healthy cheeky 1 year old boy!

She said she wished she hadn't gone through iui because the inital disappointment was heartbreaking.

I think the success rates of ivf are higher than iui but that all depends on your body ofcourse. I myself am now going through my ivf journey and was never presented iui as an option.

My guess is that the doctors will give you the options best suited to your health/menstrual cycle.

Good luck with whatever option you decide!

We're going privately as my partner already has a child we don't qualify for anything, I've been reading up on both and think ivf is probably our best option, thank you for your advice though and hope it all goes well for you

Hey, I've had three miscarriages between December 2020 and November 2021 so same issue. I've just started IVF with genetic testing to hopefully overcome this issue. I'm on day 8 of injections so I can update you in a month or two if it works. I didn't think IUI was worth the low success rate and if financially was going to be jumping into this, I just wanted to go straight to IVF with genetic screening. I'm just 34 a couple weeks ago with a healthy 4 year old.

Have you done all the testing for miscarriages first? That was my first step.

Hi

ivf may help because they choose to "put together" the best egg and the best sperm collected and then from the embryos produced they can test and transfer the best one, giving it the best chance to come to term.

This is something my partner and I can't decide either. We've been TTC for 2 years now.Would really appreciate to hear about your experience @private01 since I am right at that time now. Wishing you a smooth and pleasant process!
