Worried that chlamydia has affected my fertility

So i'll start by admitting that my husband and I have not started trying for a baby yet but plan to this year! It's just that I am worried sick about this now that I am at the stage of being ready for a baby.

I caught chlamydia when I was 20 but it was identified and treated about a month after contact. I've only ever caught it that one time and not had any other sti's. I am so ashamed about it that I never told anyone to this day, not even my partner.

I am really worried because I know the dangers of this infection in regard to fertility - that it can block your fallopian tubes making it hard to conceive and sometimes it can make you infertile. Has anyone on here gone through anything similar and successfully conceived after?

Hi OP I haven't experienced anything similar, but I know that you can have tests to see if your tubes are blocked or if you have pelvic inflammatory disease. If you are concerned you can look into having these investigations to rule out infertility based on those two.
Good luck

A lot of my friends have had chlamydia and have had children without any problems.

You would've also needed to have the disease a lot longer for it to impact your fertility I believe.

Oh ok, so it sounds as though your friends could help answer your question, if they have had a similar experience and gone on to successfully conceive?
I am sure it will work out fine

I know this is an old thread, but this might give someone else hope. I have had chlamydia is my early twenties. I think I had it for almost two years. I only got tested as I went to a GUM clinic for the morning after pill. I have been pregnant 4 times. Two miscarriages and two successful pregnancies. I was petrified too, but I got pregnant in my late 30s and my last successful pregnancy was at 45! I wish I had tried earlier as I was convinced I was infertile. Good luck OP.
