Just a word of warning for those considering IVF treatment at Institut Marques Barcelona - avoid at all costs! I was punctured during the egg collection procedure. I then collapsed in my hotel room from what I now know was a loss in blood pressure from internal bleeding sustained during the procedure. I called their 'emergency line' when I gained consciousness and was told to attend the clinic the following day for an antigen test?! I now know that their emergency number actually redirected to a call centre as it was the weekend and I never spoke to a doctor. I had shooting pains to my neck and shoulder region and had to remain upright all night as I was otherwise overwhelmed by the pain. When I was finally examined the following day, I was told that I should have been brought back into the clinic the previous day to have the blood drained. Also despite retrieving 24 eggs (16 mature), only six were fertilised. A disastrous fertilisation rate (37.5%) down from a rate of 85.7% from a January cycle. Please don't put your hard earned money (and dreams) in the hands of such an incompetent, mercenary and unethical organisation.
