Dr Gorgy / Dr Shehata

I'm currently onto miscarriage 12, I'm looking into going private and looking at Dr Gorgy or Dr Shehata's clinic.

Has anyone got any experience of either of these two clinics. I've exhausted all NHS testing available and I'm at a loss.

@SamE1 i have read elsewhere on here that dr s thinks it’s too late by positive test to begin the treatment, but I know one lady went to dr gorjy at 5 weeks and her pregnancy was successful. So I guess everyone is just different. I agree if you think this isn’t going to be a positive outcome it might be an idea to begin the treatment earlier. Sorry you are feeling convinced it will go wrong, i
know that feeling so well and yet I still allowed myself a tiny amount of hope for a miracle which just makes it even worse. Strangely with my last mc I bled, initial scan showed no signs of a pregnancy and a week later there was a baby with a heartbeat. A week later it was gone, and I just knew. But the bleeding obviously didn’t stop
the pregnancy progressing a little x

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 15:54

@Ralowi did you take some comfort from the fact that the pregnancy got that far? X

OP posts:
Ralowi · 31/07/2022 16:21

@SamE1 it’s the furthest I’ve got (apart from my son). The only other time they’ve noticed a heartbeat they said it was just a flicker and not clear. But something is definitely going on around the 6 week mark and it has to be the nk cells but I don’t know about the science behind it all x

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 17:03

@Ralowi furthest I have gotten to is 7 weeks, my losses are getting shorter each time. Have you read the book by Dr Beer? It's really interesting.

OP posts:
Ralowi · 31/07/2022 18:00

@SamE1 no but I need to. I listed to dr Shehatas podcast which was interesting, I literally knew nothing about all this before then. I think it’s common if you have immune issues for pregnancy to only reach the 6-7 week mark. Some of mine have gone on to 11/12 weeks by the time I’ve had surgery as just haven’t happened naturally. Lucky I just get private early scans otherwise I’d not have found out till 12 weeks x

Ralowi · 06/08/2022 17:03

Hi @SamE1 just re-reading a few bits on here and thought I'd see how you are getting on. No pressure to reply x

SamE1 · 06/08/2022 17:06

@Ralowi, hi! Thanks for your message. So I've had a scan and there's nothing in womb although my HCG was over 3,000. It's only had a 29% rise in 24 hours so they are thinking ectopic. I've been in hospital most of the day. I have to go back Monday for another scan and discuss options. Cervix is closed and no active bleeding, although they are concerned about the rise in number being so slow x

Ralowi · 06/08/2022 17:14

@SamE1 oh bless you so sorry. I hope it's all over as quickly and painlessly as possible if it is bad news. I have had very similar recently. I was told at a 6 week scan It was a pregnancy of unknown location, they then brought me back not longer after as hcg was high and they thought ectopic. This time (think it was 3 days later) there was a baby and heartbeat measuring a week behind. I couldn't get my head around it and knew it probably wouldn't end well. sadly the following week there was no growth and heartbeat was very weak and eventually I had to have surgery at 12 weeks which was just really annoying when I had known from 6 weeks. So I hope your outcome is a bit better. That's really frustrating when you were on the pred and progesterone too x

SamE1 · 06/08/2022 17:15

Thank you. I'll see what Monday holds. I just hope if it is bad that it's over quickly xx

Ralowi · 07/08/2022 10:12

@SamE1 100% with you on that. I've wasted 3 months, 3 times over getting a missed miscarriage resolved Confused

SamE1 · 07/08/2022 10:15

@Ralowi I'm sorry you've had to go through that . Xx

SamE1 · 08/08/2022 18:02

Hospital confirmed as ectopic in left tube. Hcg is 4990 which is under the 5k threshold for emergency surgery. I go in tomorrow for methotrexate injection to hopefully dissolve the pregnancy. Heartbroken.

Ralowi · 08/08/2022 18:50

Aww I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope it's over with quickly for you. At least you won't have to have a tube removed x

Ralowi · 11/08/2022 12:01

Hi @SamE1 I hope everything went okay yesterday x

SamE1 · 13/08/2022 15:17

@Ralowi, I had the two injections on Tuesday. My levels went up quite high in one day and were way above the threshold. Had my 4 day monitoring today and they've dropped a little. Back on the 16/08 for more and then they'll decide if I need another lot of injections.

Had the odd twinge, horrific migraines but no bleeding as yet.

Hope you're ok! Xx

@SamE1 it's so frustrating isn't it when you just want it over. I have always chosen the surgical management but I think that's because I seem to get to week 11/12 and no signs of it happening naturally. So I've no experience of the injection but I hope you are doing ok and trying to relax a little x

seven201 · 15/08/2022 18:53

Sorry to read all the sad outcomes on here.

This is more a post for anyone still trying to decide who to see. I'm under prof Shehata. I have a naturally conceived dd (she's now 6, we wanted a 2 year age gap) and secondary infertility with recurrent miscarriages. One early mc, then lots of failed ivf I then had surgery to remove a big adhesion (previously misdiagnosed as something else that shouldn't have been a problem) I was able to get pregnant naturally but then had two miscarriages before 6 weeks. Then saw prof S and have high activity NK cells and a couple of other things so was put on his 'complex' plan of humira/adimulumab, predinisolone and intralipids (plus the usual progesterone, aspirin etc). Had a frozen embryo transfer at my ivf clinic (as I had 2 frozen still) and a bfp. Scan at 7 weeks measuring behind but with a heartbeat. Sadly the next week the heartbeat had stopped and eventually I had the medical management at EPU. But... this is the furthest we've ever got with a pregnancy since dd, so it is progress. My treatment plan has now been tweaked to add hydroxy. It is annoying having to travel for the appointments, although I'm in the SE so it's not as far for me, but a nightmare for work (I'm a teacher). I'm pleased I went with Prof S personally. If it's just a consultation he's happy to do those appts on zoom, which is handy. He's not cheap, but I think Gorgy might be more expensive, but don't quote me on that.

SamE1 · 15/08/2022 19:53

@seven201, thank you so much for sharing and I'm sorry to hear that you've been through so much heartache. I'm glad that you got that far with the help of Dr S, it certainly sounds promising!! Good luck with your journey and if you wouldn't mind updating us with how you get on! Xx

I don't sorry, but others may. I opted for Dr Gorgy and I have a follow up on Thursday to discuss tests. They were in excess of £2500 so I'm hoping for some answers. Good luck!

Since I've been at CRP I've done one ivf pregnancy (ivf elsewhere) that was too slow to grow, then got a heartbeat, then no heartbeat at 8 weeks.

I am currently pregnant again (letrazole round through CRP and only 5 1/3 weeks) so not yet had first scan but my pregnancy test is still positive (not always the case for me) and on an additional drug this time. Hoping this is 'the one'.
