I was successful with IUI. We had a medicated cycle and were really lucky that it worked first time for us. Our issue is ovulation but I had 6 months on clomid with no success. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. I remember there wasn't much info on it when I went through it!

Hi,
Following this with interest as I am looking to get a private referral to give this a shot, same as you though wouldn't be using donor sperm.

Hi sorry its taken a while to respond just seen the notification. Ty for your reply yes there seems to be so much conflicting advice around about IUI. I have had tests like the blue dye, scans etc and all came back normal so unexplained fertility which is so annoying as there's no explanation or reason. Any information you are willing to share really will be a massive help

Hi all! Also considering IUI instead of IVF and its nice to hear some success stories. Congratulations @DisneyGirl2329 ! So happy it worked well for you! Anything you would like to share about your experience? I'm a little in the dark and quite nervous so any tips would be greatly appreciated. xx

Sorry everyone! Wasn't getting notifications for the thread. We had the option of 3 IUI on the nhs and then 1 IVF for our area. We could have gone straight for IVF but then we would forgo the IUIs if that makes sense! So we just thought we had nothing to loose and despite the low success rate we gave it a go. There was no wait for us and as soon as we had done medication training we were able to start on the next cycle. I had to have clomid on cycle days 2 to 6 and then go for a scan on day 6 to see if I needed the menopur injections (I did). Then I had 3 menopur injections on days 6, 8 and 10. More follicle tracking on day 10 and 13. When I went in on cycle day 13 they said they would do the IUI on Cd15. So my DH had to 'abstain' until then. That night I had the trigger injection at 11pm (they were very specific on timings!). On the IUI day my DH had to do his bit at 1pm and I was booked in at 3pm. They then cathereterd the washed sample in. I had to lie there for 10 mins and that was that! I then went to the hospital pharmacy and picked up my next lot of clomid for the next cycle (I was so set in stone that it wouldn't work). Originally I was told i had to have a month gap in between each cycle but when I had the IUI I asked and they said they weren't busy so I could do back to back cycles. I was a bit cramps afterwards but that was it. I tested positive on CD 33 (was late but couldn't bring myself to test!). All in all the whole thing was fine. The only hard part was having to have all the time off work for the scans (I'm a teacher) but luckily the IUI week fell during half term. I also had a spa day the day before (preplanned) so I did feel relaxed. Sorry if ive been a bit garbled. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. My heart goes out to you all. The 3 years it took me to have my DS were the hardest of my life. It genuinely still makes me cry now. I'm sorry you are all having to consider IUI/IVF x
