Hi all

Not posted in here before but wondering if anyone can help with my blood results? Got gp appt tomorrow but not really hopeful he knows what he's talking about seeing as I was told to test everything on cd21 🙈

These are from cd4 and for information I'm 29, been actively ttc for 15 months, but not preventing for 5 years. Had one mc and one tfmr in that time.

Fsh - 9.3 iu/l
LH - 4.3 iu/l
Oestriol -83 pmol/l

From what I've read the ratio is meant to be 1:1 and a higher fsh can indicate low ovarian reserve, is that right??

I also had progesterone tested at 6dpo which was 38 which I believe is ok? And oestriol was 774

Thankyou in advance x

Yes. FSH significantly higher than LH indicates low ovarian reserve. The ratio is supposed to be roughly equal between the two. For 29 your fsh is higher than it probably should be. I wouldn’t expect the GP to know that much tbh. Mine didn’t want to refer me when my fsh was 12 and my Lh was 4 Confused

That said….since I got the low ovarian reserve diagnosis I became pregnant 3 times including once via ivf. There are studies which show that low ovarian reserve is no barrier to natural conception if that is your only issue. It’s where you need to do ivf that it becomes problematic as you’d likely produce less eggs. However at 29 your eggs are likely to be in v good shape and you only need 1 to get pregnant.

Hi. If it helps I am trying and struggling to conceive my third baby. My first two were both conceived in the last 5 years and easily. I turned 35 and Xmas and have majorly been panicking because my FSH was 9.6 and LH 4.5. We’ve just had our first consultant appt this week and she said under 8 is completely normal. 8-10 and they start to think something is changing in terms of egg reserve but I had my AMH and AFC measured and both were normal so she said there wasn’t an urgent concern but something to be mindful of. We’ve been TTC for 12 months and she’s advised us to wait another 6 months which I think I’m going to find quite difficult!

Thanks both of you for your replies. My gp said my levels were fine and my acupuncturist said under 10 is ok, hard to know what's right isn't it. We are not planning on ivf anytime soon, just carrying on trying for now. I know I can get pregnant as have before, just need to again and have a sticky bean 🤞🏼 I have trouble with my thyroid as well so we think that's probably the cause of it taking a while my levels are a bit up and down, under a consultant for that so hopefully if I can get that stable it will help too x
