Progesterone Pessaries

Hello, I am 38 and have an AMH of 0.57pmol and I’m at the very beginning of my journey. My cycle is usually 21 days and I normally ovulate very early around day 7 of my cycle. I have been prescribed progesterone pessaries to take on day 10 (tomorrow) which would normally be 3 days after I have ovulated, but I am ovulating later than usual, which means I’ll ovulate around day 11/12 (Thursday/Friday)I am supposed to start the pessaries tomorrow (day 10) and I can’t get hold of my gynaecologist to ask her whether I should still start using them even though I have not yet had my LH surge? Will it harm my chances of conceiving successfully if I take them before I have had my peak ovulation reading? Thank you in advance, I don’t know if anyone can answer but I’m just panicking a bit x

Don't take them until you know you've ovulated. If you take them too early, you can prevent ovulation. I usually measure my bbt and thrn start them 2/3 days past ovulation x

Thank you for your reply, this was my gut feeling too. Should I alter how long I take them for? I’ve been prescribed 10 days but if I start them later then the date I finish them will take me beyond my period due date and may put my cycle out of sync, will this matter? Thank you in advance x

@Winnie40130 I'd try contacting your clinic again tomorrow for clarification.

Just a heads up- make sure you have lots on Panty liners and sorry if this is to much info but push up then backwards ( yep I didn't know thing could go backwards either but they can and it causes les to be lost).

I had them post EC so can't give you any advice on that sorry.

@Winnie40130 if you ovulate a bit later, your period would be delayed as well. The time between ovulation and your period (luteal phase) is generally the same. So don't worry about that. So I would still take them for the amount of days you've been told, but not until you're sure you have ovulated. Have you been told to test at a certain point? I have to test at 10dpo but I have to start meds so need to know as early as possible. Usually 12 days past ovulation is a good time as it should be accurate. X

Thank you all so much for your replies and advice, this has really helped put my mind at ease 🙏 @VenusStarr I haven’t been told to test but I will do on the 10th day of taking the pessaries, my gynaecologist didn’t explain much at all to me so I’m learning slowly about it all via websites and forums like this! Thank you again xx
