PCOS metformin use - dosage?

Hi!
I’ve recently done a failed round of ivf due to secondary infertility. I have pcos and husband has male factor issues.

Anyway, we conceived my daughter in 2017 after I had been on metformin for 7 months. TTC number 2 has so far failed, we got sucked into ivf due to husbands numbers regardless of our previous success with metformin alone.

I’m starting to wonder if I should try it again as ivf hasn’t worked and I’m starting to wonder if I should try metformin again. Back in 2017 I was taking 1000mg per day and this regulates my cycle. I started taking this again but it hasn’t done much. I’m just wondering what dosage people take?? And whether I should increase it..

NHS gp is totally clueless and I will probably get better advice on here Grin

I take 1500mg. Metformin alone didn't help me I needed clomid too, but it did improve my irregular cycles and make them more predictable.

I take 1500 mg Metformin and 2 grams Myo-Inositol twice a day, it helps to control insulin as well. However, we also have MFI and we are doing IVF.

How long have you done IVF? Why didn't they prescribe Metformin if they knew you had PCOS? Are you insuline resistance? They picked it up when I did the fertility tests pre IVF.

@Cherry35 they asked if I had been on it before but didn’t tell me to go back on it.. I am going to a follow up meeting with the consultant and going to ask about this. What brand of inositol do you take? X

I take Healthwise brand. Check that it says Myo- Inositol. Many brands sell only inositol.
