IVF first time questions

Hi
I'm turning 40 this year and am just about to start an IVF cycle. I've been given my meds, told when to take Notethisterone and when to stop, when they will expect my period, but my calculations make it a weekend. Will that matter? Xx

Hi @Turning40andstartingIVF

Mine was due on a Wednesday but typically even with Northesteroine it showed up late on a Saturday afternoon. As it was past 12 my day one was Sunday- so I called Monday first thing and went in Tuesday for Covid swab's and last med check etc.
If day 1 was the Saturday I would have had to go in on the Monday.

So no it doesn't matter if it's the weekend :)
Good luck I have my ET ( Egg Transfer) on Wednesday.

Aw good luck for Tuesday! I'm so scared. Being 40 this year I know my chances aren't great. But the NHS funding won't allow 2 attemps if I turn 40, so I'm preying this works. I've changed my diet, cut back on coffee, trying to relax... but I'm worried working is putting me at risk of covid (which would cancel the cycle) or just add to stress I'm trying not to get in. Did anyone give up work while going through a cycle? Xx

@Turning40andstartingIVF

I didn't give up work, but I Informed work and I WFH as much as I could, which wasn't a lot in my job tbh. I'm wfh now and isolating until Wednesday though.
I know a few ladies who got Covid on another thread i'm on ( IVF/FET March April) come and join :) and as long as it wasn't over scans/ EC, ET they could carry on.
There's 2 weeks which are heavy on the hospital appointments mine was for 2 weeks around 6 days after staring stims.

I got an antigen test too, which showed I had antibiotics so that helped me relax a little and I have avoided pubs, restaurants and large social gatherings all the way through.

@Turning40andstartingIVF hey I think I’ve already spoken to you in another thread.
Was just going to add about the work side.

My work were great with everything and gave me time off no problems. I worked through norethisterone (no real side effects) and through first week of stims. They started on the Monday. By the Friday I cut it to a half day as I have a fairly physical job and I was getting a bit sore. I took the second week off so I was free for scans/egg collection etc. i had first scan Monday of second week and collection Thursday. Back to work today and that all worked out ok

My main worry was catching covid and getting cycle cancelled but thankfully we were fine. My clinic didn’t do a covid test which I was expecting but did ask if any symptoms 2 days before my appt. We cut down social events the month in lead up just to be safe. But then we both cut drinking altogether 3 months ago so nights in became a lot easier haha.
