TTC for 5 years and have been referred for ivf in December but still waiting to hear back from them. In the meantime husband has received a letter with blood results on to state he has low testosterone, luteinizing hormone and low follicular stimulating hormone. Could this be why we have not been able to get pregnant? There’s only so much googling I can take! He has now been referred on to an endocrinologist but just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences and know if this may help us to finally get pregnant? And also what treatment options may be

Hi, it could be that the low testosterone decreases sperm count and quality. Did he have semen analysis? Usually they do it before IVF. It is very important.

My husband has had issues with sperm count and quality and the endocrinologist mentioned that his low testosterone causes that but that in his case couldn't find root cause.

In conclusion, yes likely that's the problem but endocrinologist has to try to find underlying disease or whyy his hormones are lower than they should. My DH got semen analysis and ultrasounds done before doing IVF to see if sperm could be improved prior. At the end theu couldn't find the problem and are doing PICSI to find the best sperm for fertilization.

Yes he’s had many semen analysis done all have indicated low sperm count / motility. He also had a varicocele embolisation completed following ultrasounds etc. It’s only now this far down the line that he’s had a blood test and this has come up! Interested to know whether this can be helped with medication etc? Good luck to you! X

@Bbbwx

Oh since they found the varicocele issue that's likely the cause. My husband's ultrasound came normal.

Did his sperm improved once varicocele was fixed?

My husband is doing accupuncture 2 times a week, taking cq10, lycopene, fish oil, Ashwaghanda and ejaculating 2-3 times a week and it seems to be helping.

No improvement in SA following the varicocele embolisation unfortunately. His latest ultrasound revealed that was ok now / no further treatment required but just the bloods which all came back low! We’ve been looking into acupuncture so will give that a go in the meantime whilst we wait. Also recently started with taking cq10 but will have a little look into the others as well!

He's also taking lots of nuts. If his sperm doesn't improve you can do PICSI, it should help.

Best wishes in your treatment.

I’m 45… feeling confused I’m new diagnosed with endometriosis and possible adenomyosis. I have had 3 miscarriages, my period and ovulation are all regular still … do I give it one last shot before hysterectomy! I know I’m 45 but do I carry on or am I kidding myself ?!
