Hi. Background - I’m 30, TTC for two years and - up until this week - was literally just about to start IVF due to my partners very low sperm count.
Went for our consultation and baseline scan ready to start the process on my next period in April - and instead during the internal ultrasound although follicles and lining look good - the consultant said she thinks I have a “septum” that is 1.3cm. She’s requested an MRI scan (no idea how long the wait will be for this) and will make a decision on what to do from there as to whether I need surgery to remove it before starting IVF. I can’t help but feel so disappointed and was surprised this hasn’t been picked up before as have had several scans over the last few years as part of our fertility project investigations and nothings ever been mentioned.
I suppose was just wondering has anyone found out they had a septum in their uterus and if this affected IVF? Did you have it removed? I’m reading such conflicting things habout whether this is necessary. Any advice or experiences I’d be really keen to hear. Thanks xx
