DH Double Varicocele

Hello,

I found out my husband has a varicocele on his right and left side of his testicle.

The one on the left is more visible and can be seen whereby the right one can only be felt by touching.

However the sperm tests show he has above average sperm motility (20+ million) only been TTC for 2 months.

How can this be anybody else have any other stories similar to this?

We’ve done two tests 6 months apart, since discovering as we got married September last year.

I always thought varicocele (grade 3 on left) and grade 2 on right meant no chance.

@Carey479 we just discovered my DH also has varicocele - a definite big on left and potential on right. He's waiting for a scan to confirm size and then needs to have an op. I've read mixed things, I think many people can conceive naturally perhaps depending on how bad the varicocele is.

We're on cycle 8 TTC #2, and whilst his count is relatively high (164 mil total) his motility was low (17%) and nothing has happened so far. We've been told post op (3-6 months following) we are highly likely to be able to conceive naturally.

Hi there,

I have spoken to doctor my DH is grade 3 on left and grade 2 on right. The doctor says it affects people differently just don’t leave it years before TTC.

He’s motility is very high and above average (the swimmers)

You should get your DH to do a sperm test, it’s the motility that makes pregnancy happen.

@Carey479 yes he's done a sperm test - low motility which is why he needs the operation to remove it. Hopefully if your DH has above average motility it won't take you long to conceive.

Did your DH stop ejaculation for 3 to 4 days before doing test.

My DH is also going commando and that his boosting it as well doctor encouraged it.

Why would you leave it years before TTC? How old are you both?

Carey479 · 06/03/2022 18:36

Hello, doctor said regarding my DH - don’t leave it years to conceive because it may get worse. Is the meaning
