Hi,
Just looking for some opinions. I went to have a FET last week, I have 1 DC from my fresh transfer in 2020, with lining looking perfect it all seemed to be going well until the consultant couldn’t get into my womb. I was there for a total of 2 hours (with a full bladder) whilst they tried to feed the tube through my cervix. They did say that we could stop any time but I told them I’m stubborn but eventually she said enough. Our embryo was refrozen, which I was very worried about but it apparently froze well, I don’t know if this will have any impact on viability if we do ever get it in.
My frustration comes from 3 things:
- The clinic was well aware that I had a LLETZ procedure last year but didn’t look to see if the cervix was ok for transfer.
- Multiple times during the transfer ordeal she asked for a narrower firmer catheter, the nurse left the theatre but “couldn’t find them”
- (This one might be stretching) The consultant said it would probably work if I was under sedation but they didn’t offer to do this (I’m guessing no anaesthetist present)
Now, obviously I’m firstly hugely disappointed but aside from that I have had to pay the full cost of the cycle treatment (let alone the medication, travel, time off). I know that it isn’t guaranteed that the smaller tube would have worked but the fact that they didn’t have the right equipment irks me.
Would you raise these issues with the clinic? Would you expect any recourse?
After a week I hadn’t heard anything and chased the clinic. The consultant returned my call the next day and said that the next plan would be a Hysteroscopy under sedation and to dilate the cervix followed by a second procedure to do the transfer, again under sedation. I now have to wait until the clinic contact me to tell me how much and what kind of wait time it will be.
She did mention that I might want to look at having the Hysteroscopy through the NHS but I’m sure the wait times for that would be huge at the moment, should I try contacting the gynaecology department where I had my LLETZ to see if they would treat me?
Sorry this post is probably a but muddled! Feeling disappointed/ frustrated/ lost with it all!
