I had a baseline scan last week, where I had a 10.7mm follicle and a number of other follicles under 10mm. My estradiol and progesterone levels were also a bit elevated. This was after 40 consecutive days on the combined oral contraceptive pill. Due to this larger follicle and my elevated hormone levels I was told that I couldn't start stims and instead that I should take the pill for a further 10 days and then on day 5 after stopping the pill (and having a withdrawal bleed) I should have another baseline scan to check that it's done its intended job of suppressing my ovaries enough.
My clinic thinks that a further 10 days on the pill should do the trick, but I'm worried the pill won't suppress my ovaries enough and this next baseline scan will be much like the first.
I should also add that I think 40 days on the pill may have confused my body a little. I've never taken it for that many days straight before and I barely had a withdrawal bleed after I stopped taking it (I've never not had a proper withdrawal bleed when I used the the pill previously). Maybe it's also confused my follicles and 10 days on the pill followed by a 5 day wash out period will reset things, but I'm concerned that may not be the case.
Has anyone had a similar experience at a first baseline scan and then gone on to have a second baseline scan where they then got the go ahead to start stims?
Any experiences or insights grately appreciated.
