Delayed bloating after egg collection?

You'd think I'd know/remember this by now as I have had 4 egg collections but (perhaps due to health anxiety) I'm a bit concerned about how I'm feeling - 2 days after egg collection.

EC on Sunday - I have DOR and only one follicle flushes/one egg retrieved. Recovered well, bit sore and spotting on Sun/Mon. Think I noticed a bit of bloating but not much at all.

Now on day 3, I feel very bloated. I look pregnant and it feels full all the way up to my chest really.. but then I did have pasta for lunch ha! As mentioned, I do suffer a bit from health anxiety so I know when I feel I have a tight chest, I can focus on it and make it worse. Seems highly unlikely/probably impossible to be OHSS as ofc only did natural modified ivf and had 1 decent follicle and 2 tiny ones which weren't big enough to flush.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance as to if anyone else had sort of delayed bloating - so the day of and day after the bloating wasn't too bad, but then increased after this..?

I do feel like I have vague recollections of this happening before in other cycles but stupidly I didnt keep notes of when I was bloating etc (am doing so this time!)

TIA

Hi @Rosiestraws I've only had one egg collection, so I don't have too much experience. I didn't have any bloating after my egg collection, but I've read of countless women online saying the recovery period after each egg collection was longer than the last. Of course not everyone will have that experience. I also have friends who've felt pretty rough for days after egg collection without having OHSS.

Are you able to speak to a nurse at your clinic about it? It might reassure you that it's nothing to worry about at the very least. I'd say it's always better to check these things, even if it's just for your own piece of mind.

Hi Rosie,

I had bloating issues after each egg collection even though I didn't have many follicles. I remember being very relieved that they were freeze all cycles as I didn't think I could tolerate someone inserting the embryo so soon after EC.
Eating protein, eggs, cheese and drinking sports drinks helped a little.
Like PP said, perhaps it is a good idea to contact the clinic and ask for an opinion.

Thanks for the replies. It seems much better now so I do wonder if it might have been something to do with pasta for lunch (never really noticed problems with this before, but I wonder if the EC procedure makes you more susceptible to bloating so something that can cause a bit of a bloat like that usually suddenly goes huge because of the EC?)

I also took an anti sickness drug on the day of EC as I was so nauseous (clinic gave me it) and I see a side effect was constipation (sorry if TMI!) and that was the case all of Monday and pretty constipated yday too so perhaps that's part of it..

I've made a note of the timings of the bloat and checked through texts from the last few EC and can see I seem to have mentioned bloating on days 2/3 etc after EC to friends so perhaps this is normal for me.. at least it's easing now :)
