What were your next stages after ovarian drilling?

Some quick back story. Trying for nearly 6 years, pcos, on metformin, tried clomid but didn't ovulate or respond at all had ovarian drilling and hsg in December.

I had a full normal period 2 days post op but have had nothing since so I'm inclined to think the op hasn't worked, only improvements have been my cravings have lessened and I've found it easier to lose weight.
I was just wondering if there's anyone in a similar position and what was next for you? Stims? Straight to ivf ? I have an appointment at the end of them to and just trying to brace myself really.

Hi ocosfighyer, interested to hear your story? I’m 2 days post op. Did you get you BFP

Pcosfighter67 · 07/05/2022 23:58

@LethargicButAwesome no I didn't, we statt IVF next month. The operation didn't work at all and haven't had a period since 2 days post op

@Pcosfighter67 hoping IVF will give you the success you so desperately seek xx I’ve just ordered ovusense so hoping it will help me
confirm ovulation because I’m just not sure if and when I ovulate!

Pcosfighter67 · 08/05/2022 00:17

Yes I used ovusense while we were trying naturally but I found it stressed me out alot more and actually was a waste of money for us as it can't detect cycles that don't exist lol which is no fault of the device obviously

i just can’t temp, and opks as stressful and useless. Let’s see if I feel any different with ovusense, just feel I need to give it everything for the next 6 months….to give myself the best cha de.

do you take insitol? I’ve been on metformin for 2.5 ywars, it has helped regulate my cycle and was wondering if anyone has taken both insitol and metformin together?

Cherry35 · 12/05/2022 04:22

@LethargicButAwesome

I'm taking myo inositol and metformin at the same time while on IVF, no further issues.

LethargicButAwesome · 12/05/2022 07:35

Thanks @Cherry35 my consultant advised me not to, either / or but seen a lot of people who have a taken it.

after almost 5 years ttc reviewing my supplements. Although I reacted very badly to Omega 3 fish oil supplements causing Nausea, heart burn and headaches so perhaps skipping that one! What else are you taking?

Cherry35 · 12/05/2022 08:24

I've been having pretty bad IVF cycles so currenty on a break and added more supplements:

  • Myo Inositol
  • Vit C, D & E
  • cQ10
  • NAC
  • Alpha Lipoic acid
  • Metformin
  • Fish oil
  • Pre- natal vitamins
  • Probiotics

Started Chinese Herbs and accupuncture with a Chinese Medical practitioner to improve egg quality.

Also doing low carb diet, insulin can affect egg quality. My FS support taking both of them to control insulin.

My indigestion issues are almost gone since I started the low carb diet.

Looking into adding NAD+ to my list, it's supposed to help with ageing and its consequences (egg quality) I see that they promote infusions of NAD in some IVF clinics in USA. Will ask a local dr if I can have this as well.

Hopefully after 4 months if this my next cycle is the successful one.

Are you on any that is not listed here?

How have your 5 years TTC being? As in natural? Fertility treatments or IVF?

LethargicButAwesome · 13/05/2022 00:20

Wow you have a pretty full list! I must admit I go through times when I’m religious with my vitamins and others where I completely give everything up. currently taking the below;

  • metformin
  • per natel vitamins (pregacare)
  • Vitamin d (high dose)
  • ferros fumerate (low iron)
  • medication for my thyroid
  • I tried adding omega 3 a couple of times and I just cannot handle it!
  • also just bought some high absorbing B vitamins as told absorption is low for those taking metformin.
I also do hijama for fertility, infact my only pregnancy (mc) I have managed in the 5 years came after my first hijama session, want to add acupuncture into my cycle too, but need to do a search of specialists in my area.

I was told by my consultant not to take both metformin and myo-insitol, but have been reading a lot online and have read that many people do. So I will take the plunge.

my first 2 years were natural we were taking it easy, as I have secondary infertility. Following this I have had 5 cycles of clomid, 6 months of letrozole and a early pregnancy loss. Ovarian drilling done last week (still bleeding a week later so a little concerned) so throwing everything at it this next 6 months, hoping the drilling gives me what I need. Have bought ovusense to help
me confirm whether I do indeed ovulate every month or not - really praying I get pregnant soon, if I am not pregnant by the end of the year we will look at ivf….but hoping we don’t have to.

@Cherry35 really hope there is a miracle for you and you don’t need the ivf! Have you managed to get pregnant at all?

Cherry35 · 13/05/2022 12:36

@LethargicButAwesome

I got pregnant twice but unfortunately both ended in MC both with IVF.

How did you find those high absorbing vitamin B? What ingredient makes them high absorbing?

I just found out that the infusions are super expensive and must be done regular so will take pills instead.

I had never heard of hijama, but googled it and it looks like cupping. I've had that for weight loss. Are those they give you like suction cups? Where do they put them for fertility (as in which body part)- ovaries?

If you are insulin resistance you should benefit from myo-inositol.

LethargicButAwesome · 13/05/2022 20:48

Sorry to hear about your mc :( so heart breaking, after years of trying so tough when you finally get the bfp and it doesn't remain … your under the best care possible.

using a vitamin B that uses coenzymes, only started them as read absorption of vitamin b is impacted by metformin, so will update you if I feel different. My sister also recently purchased it in liquid form - expensive but she’s been raving at how it has transformed her tiredness.

yes hijama is wet cupping, so blood is drawn, there are six points on the back, one on the chest and then dry cupping around the ovaries. It’s governed by additional religious principles which decide the day etc. could have been a coincidence, but I have only naturally conceived twice in 8 years and this was one of them! So I’m definitely going back once I have recovered from my OD.

LethargicButAwesome · 14/05/2022 00:22

@Cherry35 when are you due to restart IVF?

Cherry35 · 17/05/2022 00:57

@LethargicButAwesome

Hopefully I'm restarting in July. It would be 3.5 months after starting extra supplements and chinese medicine.

I started vitamin B but is giving me dhiarrea.

Let me known how your ovarian drilling goes, see how much it improved your outcomes, maybe I'd try it as well.

LethargicButAwesome · 25/05/2022 22:10

Hey @Cherry35 will do! My ovusense is showing I ovulated so big relief… let’s see how this plays out
