Starting IVF

After a loss last year and trying for nearly 9 months my OH and I are starting IVF.

We had our consultation and hope to start in 8 weeks.

While I understand the timings of medications/ injections I'd love to hear some first hand information from women who've gone through it i.e. how you felt on the medication, pain and ways to increase success

Thank you

I can't be of much help i'm afraid as we've literally only just started, but bumping for you in the hope others will be able to offer some help.

I stated down regulation injections 7 days ago, so we're a week in. So far so good. I was expecting horrible side effects based on some of the things i've read, but to be honest I feel much better than usual at the moment.

To date, nothing has felt very invasive or painful. After the initial fertility investigations it's only really been a couple of blood tests and a couple of internal scans.

Our Dr advised for us to both be on conception specific vitamins (Pregnacare conception are what they recommended to us) as well as Vitamin D and folic acid. Lots of other things have been recommended informally by others, but they're the only things the Dr has mentioned to us.

Thanks for your advice. I'm pretty nervous about it if I'm honest

That's understandable. The lead up can be mentally quite exhausting. No matter how much you read about other peoples experiences or understand of the process there are still a lot of uncertainties and none of it really changes the way you feel.

Our clinic offers some counselling sessions free (well, within the cost of the treatment) do you think you'd benefit from talking things through with someone? Is there anything in particular that you're nervous about that someone who's been through it might be able to help reassure you on?
