Success after IVF?

BegoniaGal7 · 08/02/2022 16:28

Is there anyone else who’s been successful after IVF but not quite ready to jump in to the “regular” pregnancy threads? I’be only just had a positive after and FET and it feels a bit early to hop on the conception buses.

Hi, I've also just had a positive after FET and feel the same.
It's still very early and waiting for our scan which is 2 wks today 🤞

Pixie79 · 08/02/2022 19:52

Oh and congratulations x

BegoniaGal7 · 08/02/2022 22:39

@Pixie79, hello and welcome! And congrats! When will you clinic scan you? Mine said not until 7 weeks. Are you doing any bloods? I’ve had an ectopic before so going for a blood test when I’m 5 weeks. How are you feeling? X

I'm having a scan in 2 weeks which will make me 7 weeks. We had 2 embryos on transferred so 🤞
They haven't mentioned any bloods so guessing I'm not having any.
I'm just feeling really tired and a bit nauseous.
How about you ?
How many weeks are you ?
X

BegoniaGal7 · 09/02/2022 09:48

@Pixie79 two embryos, how exciting! We just had one, our last frozen embryo. I’m a bit earlier than you, now 12dp5dt, so about 4.5 weeks? Also tired and nauseous, sometimes with a bit of cramping. How are you managing? I’m going between nervous and excited, a bit anxious to have the scan. Have you had a pregnancy before?

OP posts:
Pixie79 · 09/02/2022 10:03

@BegoniaGal7
Can I ask how old you are and how many rounds you've done ?
I'm 42 and this is my 1st round, we are amazed that we've got this far and have 2 frozen embryos still.
I'm just so tried all the time and my boobs are soooo sore, it's painful sleeping on my side.
I'm blessed that I have 2 children already, I've really struggled to fall pregnant this time around naturally.

Have you had a pregnancy before ?

BegoniaGal7 · 09/02/2022 13:41

@Pixie79, amazing you’ve been successful on this first round, congratulations!! And with two frozen still! Cant imagine you wouldn’t be tired, with two LO (and possibly two more on board??)

I have been pregnant before, had two miscarriages and an ectopic and one DC from our first IVF round. The embryo we transferred is from that same cycle. I am 40 and we have decided if this pregnancy doesn’t continue we won’t try again. So I’m feeling hopeful but a bit nervous!

I’ve had the boob pain, not as much as you, more sensitive nipples and just a bit tender. I’m surprised by how much nausea I’m having! I was never sick with our baby but definitely had a dodgy tummy for most of the first trimester. I also have the super nose and sleepy/fuzzy/dreamy feeling, do you get that? Like the world is just a little bit softer around the edges.

I believe they are doing the blood test because of my previous ectopic, I remember them doing it when we were pregnant with our LO.

How long were you trying before deciding on IVF if you don’t mind my asking?

Congratulations!!

This thread gives me hope x

Pixie79 · 10/02/2022 09:49

@BegoniaGal7
I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriages and ectopic.

Is your decision not to try again based on the emotion side of it all?
It's so stressful and a emotional roller coaster.
We are unsure how many attempts we will have if this pregnancy doesn't continue. It's so annoying as age isn't on our side.

My only side effects are nausea, sore boobs and extreme tiredness.
Im not getting your dreamy fuzzy feeling though.

We where trying for just over a year.
My DP had a vasectomy reversal which was successful but he has anti sperm which is apparently normal after the trauma but didn't help us trying to conceive.

When do you have blood tests ?

@IsabelHerna

Thank you 😊 x
It's still very early days.

BegoniaGal7 · 10/02/2022 19:24

@IsabelHerna, thank you, nervously awaiting the next steps

@Pixie79, those symptoms are hopefully a positive sign! It’s fab your DH was able to successfully undergo the reversal and you’ve been successful so far. When is your scan?

I had bloods today, consultant said they looked promising, so now just awaiting scan in ten days. Miscarried our first pregnancy at 5+2, I believe I’m 4+6 today (equivalent) so will be nervous for a good while now.

OP posts:
Pixie79 · 10/02/2022 21:57

@BegoniaGal7

The waiting is horrible and it must be awful for you with what's happened previously.
You've managed it before and hopefully this time you'll do it again.

My scan is in 12 days which seems so far away. I'll be 6+6
You'll be getting your scan before me.
I've been tempted to get a private scan but OH says no ☹️

Begoniagal7 · 11/02/2022 19:52

@Pixie79, yes the waiting is interminable! I’m stuck between feeling quite chilled and quite anxious! How are you managing?

I’ll have my scan at 6+2, feels like forever away and hoping we can see a heartbeat then.

Hi, how are doing? Hope everything is ok.
You must be due your scan any day now.

I'm still hanging in there we have our scan on Tuesday.

I can't believe how sick I'm feeling, it's pretty much on and off all day ☹️
I spoke to the clinic and they said it's the pregnancy +the extra progesterone I'm taking. I never felt this ill on previously pregnancies but they where natural I guess.

Begoniagal7 · 17/02/2022 18:58

Hi @Pixie79, thanks for your message. Did they say whether the extra sickness and fatigue might also be related to the double embryo transfer and possibility of twins?? At least I suppose it’s reassuring to feel so poorly?

I’m on a bit of a rollercoaster here, symptoms come and go, felt alright yesterday but terrible today with nausea and fell asleep on the sofa whilst my toddler was playing! Symptoms seem to clear by evening but I usually fall asleep watching telly.

Our scan is Monday, just one day ahead of you. The closer we get, the longer the days seem! Are you managing with the wait? Feels longer than the TWW after our FET for me Confused

OP posts:
Pixie79 · 17/02/2022 22:34

@Begoniagal7

The nurse that I spoke to said feeling sick is a positive sign. She did mention there could be more than one but I guess they just say that because of having 2 transferred.
She mainly put the sickness snd tiredness down to the increased progesterone.

Where you this tired with you other pregnancy?
I obviously have nothing to compare it to.

I'm getting flipping headaches daily also. I drink so much water, I'm constantly going to the loo so I'm not dehydrated.

The wait it driving me mad. It feels like it's taking forever.
I'm really impatient with everything and get anxious with not knowing. I'm finding it really hard.

Roll on next week, just want the weekend out the way.
I'm going to try and keep myself as busy as I can.

Begoniagal7 · 18/02/2022 18:38

@Pixie79: I think I was more tired in the previous pregnancy with my little one, but not sure how to compare as I wasn’t running after a toddler and had the luxury of naps! Now I’m just asleep on the sofa at 8 pm.

Do you reckon you’re drinking too much water? I suffer from migraines and learned that overhydrating can flush nutrients from you and lead to headaches, I think you lose a lot of salt and magnesium that way.

I’m also losing my mind here. I agree it is so hard and I so desperately want to know if we will have another baby. Though I know that if we pass this hurdle, there will be one after another until a baby is in your arms. I’m up every morning between 2-4 for a wee, and then I lie awake worrying about what we’ll see on the scan and being panicked about a missed miscarriage or another ectopic. My symptoms are also quite on and off, felt absolutely rubbish yesterday and then today just very mild nausea now and again. So trying (and failing) not to read too much into that.

I too am hoping for the weekend to fly by! The insomnia makes it harder, feels like the nights are so long. Sending you loads of positive vibes!

@BegoniaGal7

Good luck tomorrow.
Really hope everything goes well. X 🤞

Begoniagal7 · 20/02/2022 20:55

Thank you for thinking of me @Pixie79. The nausea really hit me today so hoping that’s a good sign. How are you managing?

OP posts:
Pixie79 · 20/02/2022 21:32

@BegoniaGal7
Sorry to hear you still felling sick.
I was told by the nurses that it's a good sign.

I'm doing ok, not so much nausea just tiredness and headaches still.
I can't wait until Tuesday to hopefully get some good news.
Obviously slightly nervous but trying to be positive.

Begoniagal7 · 21/02/2022 22:33

@Pixie79, fingers crossed and sending lots of good vibes for tomorrow!

My scan today went well, measured the right dates and got to see the little heart flicker. Feels completely surreal.

@Begoniagal7

Wow that's amazing news, I'm really pleased for you.

I'm feeling really nervous, I'm hoping I get the same outcome as you.

Begoniagal7 · 22/02/2022 10:06

Sending loads of good vibes and positive energy. Please let me know how you get on if you feel like it! 💕

OP posts:
Pixie79 · 22/02/2022 16:09

@BegoniaGal7

We had our scan and I have 2 pregnancy sacs.
She could only see one little flickering heartbeat and measured 10mm which apparently is text book.

I'm back next week for another scan to see if there is second heartbeat as she couldn't see today. I asked if it could just be empty but she wouldn't commit as said it's so tiny and hard to see.

It was really strange when she said twin one.

Obviously I'm over the moon with one little bean but a bit in limbo now until next week.

Begoniagal7 · 22/02/2022 20:43

@Pixie79, thank you for the update! Congrats on the promising scan. Will keep my fingers crossed for next week for you!

@BegoniaGal7
Hi, I was just wondering how you're getting on with the nausea and tiredness??

Hope you're doing ok.

I'm not feeling as sick but the feeling is still there pretty much all day.

We are still unsure if there's one or two, the scan last week showed what was a empty sac now has a embryo with heartbeat and yolk sac but measuring very small.
I hate all this waiting and unknown it's driving me mad. I'm feeling so anxious it's horrible.
I'm counting the days down every week for my next scan.
I'm back again on Wednesday so I'm guessing that one should hopefully be more conclusive.
