Fertility testing results - advice?

Hi there! Recently had results from fertility investigations and just wondering if anyone has been through similar to me and can offer advice and/or success stories?

Had an internal scan done on Friday (via a private clinic) and found out that I have a cyst which is blocking my left ovary, therefore meaning I only ovulate half the time from the other ovary. Everything else is good on my part though including AMH, and my right ovary looked fine.

DH sperm has a low morphology of 3 and slow progression (though everything else including count is good.) The consultant has advised if I didn't have the cyst and was ovulating normally it would take us longer than normal to conceive, but we'd stand a fair chance in a year or two. The wait to get the cyst removed (via a laparoscopy) on the NHS will be huge as it isn't causing me any discomfort, and of course they are so overwhelmed with urgent patients. We are considering getting it done privately but would need to pay and it would cost thousands.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? I.e. Can we take the private results back to our GP and ask for a referral for IVF/treatment (normal waiting time where we live is 2 years and we're currently 14 months TTC). Or in my shoes would it be best to get this cyst removed and then re-evaluate if we still haven't conceived in a year or two? Feeling a bit down as right now our dream of having a baby seems a while off and just looking for a friendly hand hold/advice! xx

We were referred to the fertility clinic after 12 months - my GP has to do my lh, fsh and progesterone and I had a scan. My dh had to have his sperm analysis in advance if the referral. I'd recommend asking your gp for a referral as the system isn't quick.

Once at the fertility clinic I had another scan, a hsg and a hysteroscopy. If I'd needed a laparoscopy they'd have put me on the list. Once all those investigations were done, we were referred for ivf. Which was a year after the GP referral.
