IVF & PCR Test

Does anyone else’s clinic make them do a PCR test before treatment?

I contracted Covid over Christmas and tested positive on a lateral flow on 30 December. It was impossible to get a PCR test and so I didn’t and just isolated for 10 days. I tested negative on days 9 and 10 and have been negative since.

I need to do a PCR test this weekend for the clinic - is there any chance it will be negative?! It’s over 2 weeks since my first positive lateral flow and I’ve been testing negative on them for over a week now.

Does anyone have any anecdotal experience to share?

If I’m positive my transfer will be cancelled for 28 days. 😔

PCR could give you a positive result if taken within 90 days of covid as it can pick up fragments of the old infection. Can you speak to the clinic and see what they say?

Yes, this is what I’ve read. They have said I still have to do a PCR and if it’s positive then I can’t transfer for 28 days. So transfer will be cancelled but then I’ll be able to try again next month and won’t have to do a PCR again.

We went through IVF in September and I'd had Covid in July. My clinic accepted my positive result to avoid me having to do another test in case it showed positive in error. I'd probably speak to them again and raise your concerns. Good Luck xxx

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately they won’t budge on it and their policy is as I’ve detailed above 😔
