Thought I'd start a thread for those starting rounds in the next few months.

I'm 36. TTC for 6 years. This will be my 4th transfer. It's a double embryo FET in Cyprus.

Welcome welcome 😁

Would love a sunny beach! We live by the sea and on days it's sunny I love going down with the dog! Not quite the same as Cyprus though haha!

Considering going away for a few nights for my birthday at the end of March (just Scotland). Hard to know how many days I'll have needed off before then though! So hard to plan anything isn't it x

Jampot36 · 27/02/2022 06:36

Good morning may i join please?
This is our first round.
Ttc 3 years, one pregnancy summer 2019 but miscarried and never gotten pregnant since.
Started Buserellin yesterday...all very new and trying to navigate as best as we can.

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 10:44

@HJen22 @TheHopefulEgg i'm on short protocol but they use it to kind of schedule my periods as it will come 3-5 days after I stop taking it so my EC is pre-booked for 21/3/22 if all goes to plan. They said ton us at the appointment, we are taking over this cycle so we can prepare you.

@TheHopefulEgg I have been the same since I had my appointment last week and I had my plan and my meds ready. I am slowly starting to go to sleep earlier now though that I have read loads. I still come on here every evening though and if I wake up in the night for whatever reason, I'm back on here.

@AliceAbsolum I'm so sorry to hear about your loss 🤍.
I am already on the mind frame that,If it ever works I am going to hold out telling anyone for as long as possible- ideally the 20 week if possible.

Do you have to let your clinic know your on canesflor? Is it only recommended for FET?
Sorry for all the questions.

I had to do a test this morning to start Northesteroine, even though I knew it was going to be negative it's still awful seeing those lines Sad

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 10:48

@Jampot36- Welcome, this is my first round too, never been pregnant and I have recently joined the thread. Everyone has been so lovely and answered all my questions helping me to control the crazy side of me right now.

It's all very new to me too I started Northesteroine this morning to prepare my cycle.

Good luck

Jampot36 · 27/02/2022 11:00

Thank you
Its quite daunting.

I've gone straight into it. Day 2 of Buserelin.

I am wondering how quickly did people get side effects from buserelin? Nothing major but woke up with a stinking headache and my face is so hot! Sure its nothing but could it be linked?

AliceAbsolum · 27/02/2022 11:30

@PMAmostofthetime I probably wont tell them, its not exactly a medication. Not sure about the evidence base for IVF not FET.

I literally told everyone when I got pregnant, but that was really helpful for me because we were really supported. Cant imagine going through IVF and a loss alone.
Although I did have a couple of unhelpful comments "Do you think it was the early scan you had?" and "At least you got to 8 weeks". Pros and cons.

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 11:31

@Jampot36
I have no experience but I'm sure others have.

I did a quick google search though and all the symptoms you are describing- come up hopefully someone who has also been on it will be able to advice you of somethings that have relieved it.

Jampot36 · 27/02/2022 12:00

@PMAmostofthetime thank you. I googled too, it does seem so just surprised its happened after only 1 dose!

@AliceAbsolum sorry for your loss, we lost at 7 weeks and like you the support was invaluable.

SUMMERTIME02 · 27/02/2022 12:18

Just a question on Canesflor as im a newbie to it. The box says to take 6 consecutively and then 1 a week for 4 weeks.
However im actually going to take all 10 in one go after advise from the EndomeTRIO testing thread.

Have any of you ladies done this? and with upkeep do you just continue to use once a week from there on?

TheHopefulEgg · 27/02/2022 12:34

@HJen22 ah that makes sense then. Are you with the NHS? Seems quite common so must help them (as well as you) plan ahead!

HJen22 · 27/02/2022 12:44

@TheHopefulEgg yeah NHS in Aberdeen. It does seem to be common with some clinics with scheduling. But slightly different clinic to clinic I guess with me having my scan tomorrow whatever cycle day (but I've finished my course of meds) it is and some like @PMAmostofthetime having to call up when AF arrives. I did have to call at the start of this cycle to be told when to start taking norethisterone.

@Jampot36 welcome ❤️ first round for me too and scheduled to start stims Tuesday. I'm so sorry for your loss 😔 I hope this is a successful cycle for you 🤞🏻here anytime to chat.

I'm grumpy today as I struggled to fall asleep, was still awake at half 12, then woke up at 5.30am and didn't get back to sleep. The less sleep I have the more emotional I am so that's never fun! X

Rosemary121 · 27/02/2022 13:42

@Jampot36 Welcome 👋 so sorry to hear about your loss.

@HJen22 thank you! Good luck for your baseline scan and upcoming cycle. My sleep pattern has been all over the place too, waking up really early and then in bed by 10pm!

@PMAmostofthetime I'm in Wales too! We're with WFI having treatment in Neath ☺️

@TheHopefulEgg @AliceAbsolum Hello! 👋 Nice to have more people join with upcoming cycles 🤞 for you!

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 14:39

@Jampot36 we have been WFI Cardiff and Neath but now fully with Neath as of last week. Neath is so much nicer than Cardiff

@AliceAbsolum thank you I'll keep it in mind if I get a FET.
We haven't told anybody about TTC or IVF as I was getting upset at the constant comments about when we were going to have a baby- so we told everyone we are not having any.
I find it much easier now that people don't ask or mention us having children.
If we told them about IVF it would be the same- so this is just easier for us.
May feel different lot after this cycle though.

TheHopefulEgg · 27/02/2022 15:59

@HJen22 the plan for me is to call when AF arrives then head down to London for bloods and scan and hopefully get straight onto stims. So I’ll need to find an Airbnb for two weeks assuming everything goes to plan.

Sorry your sleep has been rubbish. I was awake until 2 and up at 7.30 so off for a nap after some sea air. Feeling exhausted 😩

HJen22 · 27/02/2022 16:40

@TheHopefulEgg the bigger clinics probably have more flexibility to deal with numerous people calling on AF arriving! I'm still patiently waiting for mine, probably be tomorrow right before internal scan time 😂

Ugh that's a short sleep for you too! It's just annoying isn't it! I'm just going to go to bed earlier tonight! No point trying to stay up later but still waking up at the crack of dawn! Busied myself with painting today so it's been a quick day.

@PMAmostofthetime it's difficult finding the balance of having some support and stopping upsetting questions. In the past I've had friends ask. As it's gone on; some know we are doing IVF but only family and one friend who know dates and that it's happening now. I think friends and family just need to try and understand that if you do tell them, sometimes you'll want to talk and sometimes not. Do what is best for you and know we are all here for support and know how it feels.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend ❤️

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 18:14

@HJen22 Thank You, I know my family are only trying to be supportive but their are the ones pressuring us.
Other family members confided in me that their little one was through treatment and they are thinking of trying again soon, but I still couldn't bring myself to tell them yet either. I think it's easier for me to keep it together if there's supposed to be nothing wrong - does that even make sense?

I'm sure as it goes on we will need to share it's getting more and more complicated to explain why we are not going to events etc are we are desperately not trying to catch Covid.

HJen22 · 27/02/2022 18:24

@PMAmostofthetime i know what you mean; my sister used to go on about it and I eventually told her (way earlier than I wanted to!) we were trying! Just to get her off my back. Yeah that does make sense, it's so hard to talk about and saying it loud just makes it so very real doesn't it. Don't feel like you have to share anything with anyone you are not comfortable with, it's your business and no one else's. You have to think of yourself first and foremost. Do you have counselling sessions through your clinic? Xx

PMAmostofthetime · 27/02/2022 21:54

@HJen22
Yes we have been offered counselling and I said yes as there a waiting list and feel that it's best to be near the top when I'll crash. Also think it's important not to bottle too much up. I fear everyday that it won't work and we have decided as a couple that we are to discuss a set amount of tries or i'l stop at 42 which ever comes first probably the tries as that's 7 years away :(
It's horrible to think about but it's also good to be on the same page.
I can also access specialist counselling via work too so that's an option too if I need it sooner.

This forum really helps. Lots of my friends have not had the perfect journeys to be coming parents so i do have some that I would confide in first if needed.
They have al been blessed now thankfully.

HJen22 · 28/02/2022 11:12

Baseline scan done and sent home with all the medication. Due to start tomorrow but it does depend on AF arriving so hopefully comes tomorrow! If not just have to wait til it does and call them. Nurse could only find one ovary with 6/7 follicles but said not to worry, that sometimes happens when one pops up easy and the other not so much. At my initial scan I only had an AFC of 6 the Dr said, so maybe the other ovary has none, or maybe all the fish, supplements etc has helped, I can be hopefully i suppose! She did a practice with an empty needle and my OH did too on me so I feel much better now!

Counselling has definitely been a good thing for me, having someone impartial to talk to who totally understands because it's their job and they speak to people in the same position all day. She makes my feelings feel normal. Hopefully you get to the top of their list really soon! Xx

Rosemary121 · 28/02/2022 15:00

@PMAmostofthetime I've found everyone lovely at both Cardiff and Neath

I've had to cancel my round now due to high risk of OHSS at my scan today. EC on Wed but have to go with a freeze all and try again in 3 months time. Feeling super deflated and wish we'd have gone with today for EC as originally planned 😔😔

Good luck for your upcoming cycles all ❤️

AliceAbsolum · 28/02/2022 15:35

@Rosemary121 Oh no, thats really shitty, especially as it was going to be today, its such a balance isnt it. No wonder you are deflated :(
Will it be a retrieval or a FET in 3 months time?

@HJen22 Glad your scan went well and you have all your meds. Ultrasound is a fine art - who knows whats actually in there! My friend had her baby at 34 weeks, she had no idea she was pregnant, went to a&e and they did a full abdominal scan - didnt see the baby! she delivered 6 hours later, 6lbs something. Madness.

PMAmostofthetime · 28/02/2022 16:33

@Rosemary121 Sorry to hear that but on the positive side FET seems to be more successful and you can add the Canesflor supplements that have been recommended for FET.

Get some rest before Wednesday, I hope you get lots of good ones, let us know how it goes.

PMAmostofthetime · 28/02/2022 16:35

@AliceAbsolum that's crazy about your friend! I expect that was a shock. Seems unreal that that can happen when we would know days in doesn't it.
Hope they were both ok 😀

HJen22 · 28/02/2022 16:41

@Rosemary121 I'm so sorry, that is disappointing. I hope you are taking some time and resting today. What happened, did all of the smaller follicles catch up and therefore there were way more than they expected?

@AliceAbsolum oh my gosh that's nuts isn't it!!! It's insane that that happens! She must have had the shock of her life! I'm hoping it's there and I don't only have one! Last time they didn't tell me the split so I have no idea. It would be great if I had a few more on the other hiding ovary!

Rosemary121 · 28/02/2022 17:10

@AliceAbsolum Thank you, fingers crossed it will be a FET, as long as we get some embryos out of this cycle so all is not lost. Does feel like all the effort this cycle hasn't been worth it now but I should stay positive. That's crazy about your friend, not only at not knowing she was pregnant but not seeing it on a scan, must have been quite the surprise!

@PMAmostofthetime That's what my OH has been saying this afternoon, FET are better than what they used to be. I'll have to look into the supplements for FET.

@HJen22 Thank you, trying to take a bit of time but ended up busy googling most of the afternoon! Yes, the smaller follicles caught up, so there are around 20+ mature ones. I know different clinics have different cut-offs but they said because I'm 'small' they like to edge on the side of caution, which I can appreciate. Hope AF turns up soon for you so you can get started!

Trying to look on the positive side, at least I'll be able to have a drink for my OH's birthday at the end of the month! Wine
