NHS Funding / Referral

Hi ladies, I am new to the IVF board and hope you could give me some advice.

A little about ourselves, I am 35 and my DH 33, we have been TTC for over 2.5years now. I was referred to see gynaecologist by GP back in 2019 after one year of trying. Had various tests done and diagnosed with endometriosis and low AMH. Before my lap, the gynaecologist said I would be eligible for NHS funding for IVF (my CCG offer one round) I won’t have my follow up appointment till end of Feb with my gynaecologist but would like to start IVF ASAP due to my age and low AMH level.

Could I ask my GP to refer me to IVF clinic now or should I wait till end of Feb to see my gynaecologist and get referred that way? Is the waiting time the same? Or is it quicker via the gynaecologist? Many thanks for your help

@TTCno1G so my area was a 6 week wait from Gynaecologist to hear from the clinic for an appointment which was around 3 weeks after that. I'm not sure if it would be any quicker via the GP but if I were you I would get in touch with the GP while waiting for the follow up appointment as you never know & I don't mean this to sound the wrong way but nothing to lose by trying with the GP to speed things up! Good luck 🤞😊

Hi @Reefy, thanks for your response. I will call up my GP and ask for a referral.

I did my AMH blood test with my gynaecologist and I don’t think they have any link to my GP apparently (different trust). I am nervous if they make me do another AMH test as my last one was done back in April last year and I was on 5.4 (borderline not being accepted).

Was the process straightforward when your gynaecologist refer you? Do you have to do any more tests before you can start the appointment with the IVF clinic? Thanks.

@TTCno1G oh that's annoying that they can't use that one. No I only had to have the bloods that the gynaecologist did for my AMH.
I've had quite a few operations done & have ended up with no Fallopian tubes so didn't have to have all the other tests to see what's going on. No just some bloods when I had my first ever scan before my doctors consultation.
