Florida before IVF

We booked a holiday to Florida back in 2020 which has been postponed and rearranged multiple times due to covid. We're finally due to go in January 2022 and have been told by our clinic that we can call them on the first day of AF in Feb to get started with our first round of IVF.
I have just found out that Florida is listed as "mild risk" for Zika virus - does this mean we can't go so close to starting IVF? There have been no cases of Zika reported in America as a whole since 2016 (might have been 2017). I don't know where we stand with cancelling the holiday for this reason but would have to have to postpone our Ivf as we've been ttc for 3 years already 😣

My clinic has me fill a form asking about countries that have a risk of Zika before each transfer. I think you should ask your clinic what locations they consider to be a risk. As you say for the last few years there haven't been any cases in the USA, so it's unlikely that it will be that much of a risk.

This is where it gets more confusing, I had a call from a nurse at the clinic yesterday. She thought I'd asked for a call to discuss if it's okay that we're going to Florida. I never asked for a call so the whole thing was very odd but the gist of the call was "we can't tell you that, you need to research it yourself and make the decision". This is what got me researching as I'd previously assumed america was safe 😞

I'm sure you'll be fine! I would say go and enjoy your holiday!
