Failed 1st cycle IVF

Just got confirmation our first cycle of IVF has failed, although I knew from HPT it was negative. I'm 38 and started off with 4 follicles on 1st scan. Was on stims for 9 days and booked in for egg collection on day 11. Last scan before that showed 7 follicles but on collection only got 3 and 1 of them was empty. Both fertilised and 1 made it to day 5 transfer. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advise how to increase my egg count for next cycle? We will have review in couple of weeks to see how we proceed. I'm just very sad it hasn't worked out and hoping there is something I can do to improve this or is it just my age? Thanks

@try9ng sorry to hear your diets cycle failed. My 1st one failed in June but I'm now pregnant with my 2nd cycle. Only 6 weeks tomorrow so early days still.

I have low AMH so only got 7 eggs and 9 in June but that number was good for me. As my AMH is 5.6. I'm also 39yrs

It was great you got one to day 5 but I would be questioning why you didn't get more from egg collection?

I was on DHEA which is supposed to be good for low AMH and a high dose of co10 on advice of my DR at the clinic who has been amazing

After the failed cycle of none making it to blast ( but transferred one anyway) this time my dr wanted me to do a 90 day diet as they sent my partner for dna fragmentation which came back high so after dieting and supplements the results came back better so we're able to do cycle 2 which resulted in 7 eggs, 5 mature, 4 fertilised, 2 made top quality - one back inside and one in the freezer

Could you ask some questions on what potentially went wrong? X

Thanks for replying and congratulations on your pregnancy. I think I have average AMH for my age but originally was told they should be able to get around 6 so was very disappointed with the egg collection. Our review is in 2 weeks an dim definitely going to ask what went wrong. I will look into those supplements to see if they can help me. What's the 90 day diet? X

Yes I would have a list of questions to ask about what they would do differently
So for us, my DR suspected my finance had high dbs fragmentation after none of my eggs made it to Blast on day 5 and he was right to suspect that, so he didn't want us to cycle again until the results were back - once back they did in fact show high dna fragmentation so we sent us on a 90 day diet and take supplements as that was how long it takes for sperm to replenish
I guess in our case it was make factor (possibly) still don't know 100% but I figured if you have time the diet can't hurt x
