Possible cancelled natural FET

Hi there
Just looking for advice & some reasons to remain hopeful!
I am currently going through a natural FET cycle. I have been going to scans this week & they said they cannot detect a dominant follicle as yet. One is 10.5mm and the other 11.1mm. I am on day 14 & going by my previous cycles (and testing at home) I usually get the LH surge on day 15. The nurse said today that is the LH surge happens before a follicle has reached 12mm they would likely have to cancel the cycle but that I could speak to the doctor. Would be so upset I'd they cancelled as been building up to this for a while and been doing so much to get in body & mind prepared! Has anyone proceeded when follicle is less then 12mm or had a late growth of dominant follicle around LH surge?
Any advice or stories welcome!
Thanks 😊

Hello,

A similar situation happened to me. I had no dominant follicle the day before my LH surge. When I went back for a scan two days later to see what was going on I had to two follicles above 15mm. So I’m an example that you can have late growth. I wish you the best of luck

Did you recently do an EC round?

Not sure how helpful my experience is but will share anyway. My FET I just did, took forever for dominant follicle to grow and for LH surge to come even tho the lining was ready. I finally got an LH surge on cycle day TWENTY ONE when usually would get it more like cd14, 15, or 16. But when I did get surge a dominant follicle had suddenly shot up, and lining was still all good, so actually everything looked perfect, it just all happened 5-6 days later than expected. This was explained as that the cycle or two after IVF can be funky/longer.

Hi there,

Something similar happened to me. Somehow my last stimulation in August messed up my cycle. The month following stimulation I had a 37 day long cycle and the next cycle I did a natural modified FET and I ovulated around day 16 or 17. My dominant follicle was slow to grow. I am pretty sure that all those drugs had an impact on my cycle.
Good luck!

My experience was similar to the last two posters and I ovulated later in my cycle than I ever had before. My FET was successful. If you had egg collection within the last few months, you may ovulate later than usual. It's not at all uncommon.

Thank you so much for your responses. It gives me some hope! It just feels very strange as hadn't even thought about a problem with follicles & my cycles have always been very regular about 28-29 days with ovulation sticks showing ovulation qa day 14-15. Now I'm worried that in all this time trying to conceive (3-4 years) that I haven't actually been properly ovulating! Even though LH surge shows up & progesterone rises normally as per blood tests at day 21.
@tulipsandsnow no egg collection recently. My last egg collection was June and suffered miscarriage in August.
Thank you again for the responses it's so helpful to hear other people's experiences.
I will see what happens on the scan Monday but worrying the surge will be today!

Yes it was very hard/weird seeing cd14, cd15, then even cd19 pass with no hint of an LH strip surge. They had said if on that Monday (which was cd21) when I came in for a scan there was still no OPK surge, they'd need to take bloodwork. But got surge when woke up and tested at 9am that exact day! Follicle might have been 22mm I think?

Waiting at these times is so daunting. How are they coming along?

Hopefulforhappytimes · 30/11/2021 13:00

Yes the waiting is so hard!
I went in nervously for a scan yesterday & there was a dominant follicle that had grown to about 17mm during the weekend. So it was just slightly later than I had expected. I tested and got my surge last night and positive testing on this morning too so have been booked in for transfer Sunday morning ☺
Feeling more relaxed now for the tww..!
