Fresh bleeding post egg retrieval - is this normal?

Hello everyone, I had my egg collection done a few days ago and ever since I have been bleeding fresh blood every morning. And a fair bit too, enough to fill a toilet bowl (tmi!). It then stops during the day but starts again the next morning. I have spoken to my clinic who said it’s a tiny abrasion just inside the canal (they emphasised the very tiny and said it should only be noticeable when I wipe and that it can’t be bleeding very much) and said it wasn’t from the procedure. It’s just totally a coincidence that I’m suddenly bleeding loads of fresh blood every day since my egg collection having never had issues with bleeding ever before Hmm. I’m not sure this ‘tiny’ abrasion has anything to do with it, especially as it did not even bleed when I was examined so why I am bleeding heavily every morning?

I’m going to try my GP and see if I can get some help there as the clinic aren’t really interested it seems and I can’t go on significantly bleeding everyday. It’s not normal and especially as the clinic won’t accept it’s from the procedure. This does not seem to be listed in the complications we were told to expect either.

Has anyone here experienced similar post egg collection? Really not sure what to do and feeling a bit abandoned and treated as though I’m making a fuss about nothing by the clinic. Any advice appreciated! Smile

So….. clinic got back in touch after speaking to a different medic and been told it’s definitely not normal and to go to A&E as I’m bleeding new blood again…. Just hoping it’s nothing that can’t be fixed and the procedure didn’t do something horrible Sad Can’t believe my cycle has been so awful and fraught with problems, don’t think I can face another one

@BlueSilver23 hi lovely, we spoke on another thread - glad you got to EC but sorry this has happened- how horrible for you.
Please let us know how you get on
X

@strawberrysummer19 thank you. will have a long wait to see anyone in a&e I think. Just can’t think what could be going on, the current thinking is that they’ve nicked my bladder during the procedure Sad

@BlueSilver23 hopefully you will get some answers soon or someone can come along to see if that's happened to them
Are you still bleeding?
X

Hi there, that sounds horrible, I really hope A+E can help. That doesn't sound like normal post-EC bleeding so definitely best to get it checked out!

BlueSilver23 · 25/11/2021 18:54

@strawberrysummer19 @Scirocco yeah still bleeding on and off, my concern it’s very clearly new blood which shouldn’t be happening. Was just hoping it had happened to someone else and that it hopefully wasn’t anything serious for them Sad

They may have just touched something they shouldn't have but may not be serious
I think your clinic need to be dealing with it better
What a thing to go through after everything ivf anyway
How many eggs did you get by the way? X

BlueSilver23 · 25/11/2021 19:46

@strawberrysummer19 got 19 eggs, but 5 were immature so 14 frozen. No abnormalities either which bodes well for future too hopefully. I do have another round booked but have delayed it another month or two due to all these complications. Now thinking I might just make do with those than put myself through all this again as I clearly do not react well to this whole thing and with the complications I’ve had

@strawberrysummer19 how are you ticking along with everything? Smile

@BlueSilver23 wow that's a great number
I don't blame you but maybe recover and see how things go because things are very raw still
Do you have time on your hands ?
How are you getting on at a&e?

I'm doing ok thank you - 5 wks and 2 days now and just feel very bloated and full! Slightly constipated so bit uncomfortable but I know it's early days so apprehensively waiting for more symptoms! X

BlueSilver23 · 26/11/2021 08:08

@strawberrysummer19 glad youre getting some good pregnancy symptoms so far at least! Hope you feel a little better soon and fingers crossed for you! Flowers

Was reviewed by obgyn at hosp last night, they are happy I didn’t have to be admitted or anything but they want the clinic to review me again as it’s not what they would expect to be happening. So no answers yet really and more poking and prodding to come….. I really just want to be left alone at this point Sad

@BlueSilver23 oh bless you - I hope the clinic have some answers for you
So is this a frozen cycle - so fresh transfer ? X

BlueSilver23 · 26/11/2021 14:03

@strawberrysummer19 so the clinic are relatively certain it’s nothing too much to worry about. Ovaries are pretty big and everything’s all round just a bit unhappy but they are hopeful the bleeding should start improving. They also said it definitely wasn’t an abrasion causing it! Basically a wait and watch. Sad

@BlueSilver23 ah ok well at least nothing serious has been picked up
Hope you are resting and sure you will recover well x

strawberrysummer19 · 29/11/2021 16:08

@BlueSilver23 how are you doing ? X

BlueSilver23 · 29/11/2021 16:14

@strawberrysummer19 doing a bit better, was still bleeding a bit but the period arrived this weekend (or at least I hope that’s what it is!) so feeling a little better. Not quite as bloated and painful but still a bit twingy around the ovaries!

How are you and the little one going?

BlueSilver23 · 29/11/2021 16:14

strawberrysummer19 · 29/11/2021 16:18

@BlueSilver23 ah ok
Glad you taking some time off to recover
Yeah I'm ok, not bloated anymore and don't really feel any symptoms but I have a early scan booked now for Friday x
