Success with lower grade embryo?

Hey ☺️
I'm feeling at a loss and keen to move onto another FET cycle. I've recently had a chemical pregnancy with a grade 3BA embryo which has really broken my heart. I can't stop thinking about the other embryo we have in storage which is a 2BA grade but am unsure if I'm setting myself up for failure. We're in a position to go again but I'm just looking for any success stories out there on lower embryo grades. I know it only takes one and it's the gamble we take...let's just say I'm searching for a little hope x

I'm so sorry about your chemical pregnancy. After everything that must have been devastating. Worth considering though that your clinic wouldn't agree to transfer any embryo which didn't have some chance of implanting. I do think some places/people are far too hung up on embryo grading - plenty of anecdotal stories out there where people have had failed transfers with top quality but successful live births with lower quality. You won't know unless you try unfortunately.

In terms of success stories - our 14 week old hadn't reached blast stage by day 5 so was ungradeable. On paper had a pretty poor chance of success but she hung on in there!

Hi OP I’m sorry about your CP, it’s so tough.

In terms of grading I wouldn’t say there’s too much in it for a 3BA and a 2BA - the grading (the letters) are the same it’s just the expansion that’s different. If an embryo is going to implant it has to go through all the stages of expansion (1-6) in order to do so. So your 2 will become a 3 then 4 and so on until it hatches and implants. It will just go through these stages inside of you instead of in the lab.

In terms of numbers, if it helps at all, I had a miscarriage with my 5AB and am now 11+5 weeks with my 3AB. I’ve also seen on another thread that a lady is currently pregnant with a 1BB.

As PP said, plenty of people get and stay pregnant with ‘lower quality’ embryos and we just have to remember that they wouldn’t freeze them if they didn’t think they would make a baby.

Best of luck to you! 🤞🏼
