Fluid at lining scan

Hi everyone, had my lining scan on Friday and they noted a small amount of fluid. I have gone back today after 3.5 days of progesterone and it has gone. They have suggested I could have another scan the morning of FET to make sure.

This has never happened before. I can only presume it is the result of us adding some additional estrogen early on to try and get my lining where it needs to be quicker.

Just looking for any positive stories re women who have had a tiny bit of fluid the week before FET which resolved and then they had a successful transfer?

Thanks x

It hasn't happened to me but I've seen others report it, sometimes fluid shows up in the uterus, the clinic often tell people to orgasm to try and get rid of it. If it's still there a cycle can get cancelled, embryos need a dry environment to adhere to the uterus. But if it resolves then the transfer will go ahead. If the cycle is unsuccessful you may want to consider investigations to check there isn't a hydrosalpinx.

I had some fluid which was due to uterine scarring, it persisted even after surgery to correct this. However as it went away after progesterone my specialist wasn’t concerned.
I think if it persists next cycle it’s worth investigating with a hysteroscopy as can be due to scarring, infection, blocked tubes etc. But sounds like most likely just the drugs for you if a small transient amount. Good luck for your transfer!

Hi guys, glad I came across this. I am in the same boat @grcrobbo, I have had some fluid in my cavity for the last two cycles I have done in the last 4 months, at first they said it would go away it hasn't. About to start the 3rd cycle any day now and hoping there would be a change.

I am due to have a transfer with this cycle, I am hoping the progesterone would help like @Hedwig1 says. Last cycle I asked if the dr could address it and he said they were not worried about that at that time and would address it during the 3rd cycle.

@Gardenlady543 would definitely insist on investigating even if it means the transfer being canceled for now.

Thank you all for your comments. I really appreciate it. It’s never happened before to me (during stims, mock ERA cycle, and last transfer which was successful but ended in miscarriage at 8w). I had a 3D saline ultrasound after the miscarriage which came back clear. I do think it’s maybe because we slightly changed the oestrogen meds this time.

Consultant is happy to proceed now it’s cleared and I have another scan booked morning if transfer to make absolutely sure but obviously still feel nervous! X

@grcrobbo hey! This happened to me on my baseline scan and of course I googled the hell out of it and the results gave me more drama than good 🙈 I went for a scan a couple of days later as I complained I was just left to sit on this news with no explanation and low and behold it had disappeared! The result of it for me at the time was due to hormonal changes and they were happy to continue with FET cycle. The fluid never appeared again, sadly that cycle didn't work out and was just a case of bad luck. Fingers crossed for you that all is well and you get a sticky bean! X

Thank you. Unfortunately my FET got cancelled at the 11th hour on Friday as the fluid was inexplicably back (after being completely gone on the Tuesday). I was absolutely devastated 😔 just really hoping this isn’t going to be a recurring problem. We have to wait until after Christmas to try again now 😩

@grcrobbo oh no!! 😩 I'm so sorry to hear this happened and know just how frustrating and devastating it is to cancel a cycle when it feels so close. You have a lovely Christmas and let's go into next year fighting strong 💪🏼 sending lots of solidarity your way x

Hi ladies, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread, I’ve been doing ivf for the past 2 years , every time I go for my scan to check my lining for a FET my lining is always thick and have fluid in my uterus, my ivf clinic sat the fluid sac is in connection with my lining.

Ive had 3 hystroscopies and an en endometrial biopsy,, all came back clear and normal. This fluid happens every time in my menstrual cycle but disappears with ivf meds.

Now our funds have depleted and can no longer afford ivf, we are back to trying naturally and I’m so worried about this fluid and wot I can do now 🥹🥹
