How soon to test?

Hi, just wondering how soon after 5 day transfer would you have test? Had transfer last Monday and clinic have recommended testing at home next Saturday followed by a blood test on the Monday. Do you wait that long or should it show sooner? Thanks

Hello, that’s quite long for a blood test. My clinic do bloods 9 days after 5 day transfer. Testing at home 7 days past should be accurate with a First Response test. Some get faint lines from 5 days past. The cheaper tests are not so reliable until you’ve actually missed a period. Good luck!

Thanks I was thinking it was quite late to be testing, my curiosity is getting the better of me, I'm tempted to test

I always tested from 4dp5dt just because I have zero will power 😂🙈 - I got a BFP with my twins around 3dp5dt but still squinters until around 5dp5dt - and only using FRER. Didn't get an obvious BFP on those cheap strips from Amazon until around 9dp5dt and by that point was getting 2-3 weeks on clearblue

Oh wow twins would be a surprise, lovely I'm sure when you get used to the idea. I've just bought clearblue can't seem to find first response in the shops nearby. I'm guessing the trigger shot would be out of the system by now? I might try to hold me pee until bed time to test tonight lol

I tested out my trigger shot with the twins - I did x2 ovitrelle as a trigger - it was out by 3dp5dt - at 3.5 dp5dt the mine reappeared and then got darker

As rough rule of thumb hcg halves every 24 hours so around 12 days for a 5000 trigger

So if you took it say 2 days before egg collection 4dp5dt would be around 11 days - everyone metabolises hcg faster/slower though so for some it will be back to zero quicker and others longer

@tiggerwhocamefortea if you don't mind me asking, did your twins come from a double transfer or split embryo? 😊

try9ng · 21/11/2021 19:23

Thanks I only had one Ovitrelle shot so would that mean my hcg would go on about 6 days? I think I may have got a very very paint positive on the clearblue. I'm going to test again in the morning, I don't want to get too excited yet

For my last FET, I got a bfp 6dp5dt and probably would have gotten a bfp sooner judging by the line.

However, my first FET I didn't get a positive until 8dp5dt in the evening! He's 16 months now, but I do believe that's very late from what I've read om forums since. (It wasn't a first response though, which are the best.)

Fingers crossed for your test in the morning 🤞I'm sure the vv faint positive on clearblue is a great sign 🙂

@babyhope2021

My twins were from a double transfer x

try9ng · 21/11/2021 19:44

Thank you, I really hope its a good sign, just so want it to be true hope I'm not imagining it. But my Oh can also see v faint line. Good to hear other experiences

I did another clearblue this morning and still a very very faint positive but first response came back negative with same sample. Could 2 clearblue be evap lines? Does this mean I'm out now if Frer is negative in day 7?

It's probably still too early to say for sure either way. I got a bfp at 8 days post 5 day transfer, and I've known people get bfps at 10 days. Some embryos implant faster or slower than average, so I wouldn't count yourself out yet.

At 7 days, levels are still going to be low so any lines are likely to be faint, and depending on sensitivity a test might not even pick up on the amount of hcg in a sample.

Maybe test again tomorrow or the day after and see if you can see more clearly either way?

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply, I've been so upset today I wish I had left it longer to test. I'll try again in the morning.
