Laparoscopy waiting times - NHS

Hi lovely ladies.

My fertility consultant said that if I’m not pregnant by my next appointment then he will refer me for a laparoscopy as he suspects endometriosis. Could anyone share how long they had to wait for their laparoscopy? I know this is like asking how long a piece of string is (especially with COVID delays) but I would really appreciate any responses.

Thank you! Smile

@DreamingofDisney I got referred in July, had my first telephone appointment end of September and had the laparoscopy end of October. I was very lucky to have the surgery so quickly after the telephone appointment they said it could be anything from about 1-6 months after the call. Can he not refer you now as it might be a few months before you even have the first appointment? Good luck x

Thank you so much for your reply @Dbop100. It’s great that you didn’t have to wait too long. I had my first appointment at the end of July. My next appointment is on Monday 29th November so I haven’t got long to wait now. They didn’t refer me then as my progesterone results were borderline and I needed to repeat them. They also wanted me to have an ultrasound scan first. Hopefully I get to have the surgery as quickly as you did! x

My local clinic told me 6 months in June. They failed my HyFoSy and I did it privately so I took myself off the lap waiting list. Asked to change it to a hysteroscopy instead and was told the wait was now up to 9 months. This is Berkshire. Hopefully your area is much quicker.

Thank you for the reply @kennetrose. Oh wow that’s quite a long wait. Is that for the lap or hysteroscopy? I had a hysteroscopy in August after a 3 month wait so I’m hoping the lap waiting list isn’t too much longer.

Just a little update for anyone in a similar situation.

I had my appointment today and they’ve booked me a laparoscopy for the 15th March, but he said it’s likely there will be a cancellation and it could be done sooner. So the waiting lists don’t seem to be too long.
