3rd time lucky with investigations??

I have tested daily for ovulation and all tests were negative. I have irregular periods, averaging between 31 - 44 day cycles. I was tested for PCOS in 2017 and it was negative. My blood tests didn't show anything either, however, the doctors would not investigate further as I was not TTC at the time. I tried again with investigations a year ago and the gynaecologist suggested I leave it as it is, have a hysterectomy or start the menopause early - I am 30. I was referred to the gynaecologist for excessive hormones, lumps in my breasts - 5 at a time sometimes. I am now TTC and have my GP appointment in a week. Hopefully 3rd time lucky and they can help me find out if I am fertile or not. But just in case they don't test, I have paid privately for a fertility blood test and will be doing that around the same time as my GP appointment. Starting this journey is hard!!

I don't blame you for sorting out private investigations. Most clinics will do a his and her fertility mot for about £500. You will need day 3 and day 21 bloods (or the equivalent), AMH, an ultrasound scan and a semen analysis. I hope you get some answers ASAP.

@gardenlady543
Thank you for your message. I have been asked for my blood on day 3. No mention of day 21. I had an ultrasound scan in 2017. I have had no change in symptoms since then - although that doesn't mean that everything is the same 4 years later. It is hard to not overthink before my appointment and become anxious.

@gardenlady543

I am being tested for;
anti-müllerian hormone (AMH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), oestradiol (E2), luteinising hormone (LH), prolactin (PRL), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (FT4) and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG).

Yep that all sounds good, day 21 bloods (or the equivalent in irregular cycles) are to check if you've ovulated, it's a test for progesterone.

I will ask the GP if they will test me for that. There is a possibility I will have my period the week of talking to my GP, so will have completed the other blood test around that time.

Thank you for your help. I hope you are okay/doing well in your journey 🤞

Thanks :) I am unfortunately a bit of an expert in infertility! I hope you get the tests sorted quickly.
