Chlomid advice

Hi all,
I’m just wondering if there are any other mums out there that used chlomid to get pregnant the first time? We’re thinking about baby number 2 (if we’re lucky enough) and don’t know where to start. Did you need help the second time? Do you have to go private and /or do you need a referral though the GP still? At a loss and the GP wasn’t very helpful. Thanks in advance x

Hello, OP. We hop you don't mind but we're going to move your thread over to the infertility board now. Hope you get some useful advice.

I’m currently 10 weeks after using clomid for 2 cycles. It depends on whether you want to go through the nhs or private. I chose to go private, I got a GP referral. The private gynae did some tests on me, so day 2 bloods, day 21 bloods, hsg scan and then he put me on clomid. I had private medical insurance so this was free for me (apart from the excess).
If you don’t have private insurance, Day 2 and Day 21 bloods can be done by the GP. The HSG is about £650 and the consultation plus follow up is about £350.

I don’t know much about secondary infertility and the nhs however did meet someone who was put on clomid due to secondary infertility so they do help.

See what works best for you. Good luck!

Thank you for replying and congratulations!! We needed clomid the first time, this was through the NHS and they were fab. I think once you have a child, you’re no longer eligible for help.
Thanks for the prices, I’ve been wondering about this - I do have healthcare insurance but as it’s a pre existing condition I don’t think it’ll be covered. Time to make some more calls I think.

@Butterfly20201 just wanted to let you know I have two children (now teenagers) and my partner has two teens also but we have been trying for one together for 3.5 years, I'm currently on round 1 of clomid on the nhs after being referred to fertility by my gp. It's not a quick process and this is the furthest they will go to help after investigations so ivf you'd have to do yourself but they will try clomid for you
