Afternoon,
Just looking for a bit of advice on how to time my day 21 bloods with irregular cycles and no positive OPK. My cycles recently have been 38 days, 52 days then 31 days. How do I determine when to go for my bloods when I’m not getting positive OPK’s to go off? I have just been given a sheet to take to a walk in centre to go when I can.

Thanks, Jess

I have had this issue and was told to go by calendar days i.e the 21st of the month (if it falls on a weekend then would go to clinic on the following Monday). Day 21 though is only part of it, you should also have a day 2 test done to measure the LH level and compare that against your FSH level.

Would suggest you now stop using the OPK's as they are useless when it comes to irregular cycles. It is likely that currently you are not ovulating regularly if at all. This type of problem can be caused by a condition called polycystic ovaries or its related syndrome PCOS.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost and for that too you will need a referral to a subfertility unit.

Yes I’ve had my first ones done on day 2 of my cycle. Just started diagnostic tests to figure out what’s wrong, just want sure when to go for my next ones x

I have the same problem but fortunately I show "signs" of ovulation whether I ovulate or not - I always get a day of ewcm around two weeks before my period so timed my day 21 Bloods for a week after ewcm. Do you track your symptoms on an app? You might find there is a small clue in there somewhere that helps you to figure out when you're one week away from AF

If you time it wrong, you can always try again in your next cycle, but obviously this delays the process!
