Low motility - question

Hi everyone,

We have MFI, discovered in 2019, with low count (5 million) and low motility. It's been a few years since DH was last tested and we just received his results back (54 million is the count, normal morphology but only 20% motility). There was no time for discussion with the doctor today but I'm just wondering with a normal count but still low motility, does anyone know if there is any chance of getting pregnant naturally? Has anyone else discussed this with their doctor and been told the chances? I'm just wondering if another ICSI will be needed for us or if it's worth it to try for a few months first.

Thank you all

@Fernando072020 there’s always a chance, but it’s a reduced chance. A urologist told us you need 20million motile sperm and my husband doesn’t have that, even with a high count and low motility.

Nonetheless we have similar numbers and are trying a few months of ovulation induction (I don’t ovulate well) in case his improved results do the trick. It would be worth it if works. We’re doing three months and then a break, then starting ICSI in the new year.

@Fernando072020 Yes, there is definitely a chance! My husband had 13% motility at his last sperm analysis (with his high count it works out to 15mil properly motile sperm) and we got pregnant with our son the day before we were due to start IVF :) Bit of a miracle of course! We're trying for number two now and hoping to be blessed again. Fingers crossed for all of us :)

@TheBirdintheCave Amazing story! I wish that would happen for us. We're due to start in late Jan so only one more cycle to go before IVF. DH's motility has ranged from 9-26%, but he has a decent count.

@thislittlebird I really hope it happens naturally for you as well :D

@TheBirdintheCave Thank you 🙏 but I’ll take any means at this stage, I’m so over ttc!

Hi everyone,

Just realised I never came back to this thread. Apologies and thank you all for your stories. Dh's results were worse in the January so we were all ready to go for icsi in August but we ended up getting our bfp last weekend naturally. I'm in disbelief and just hoping so much that it sticks!

Hope this update gives others going through low motility some hope.

@Fernando072020 ahh thats amazing, huge congrats, I bet that's been a lovely surprise. Can I ask what your partners latest results were in January please? My partners motility has ranged from 5% most recently, to 15% when first tested, but count is good. We've had two failed rounds of ICSI but always good to hear success against the odds!
