Cetrotide question

I'm due to start cetrotide tomorrow morning and watched video clinic sent me and read the leaflet. The leaflet says about drawing syringe up to check for blood but video doesn't say to do this. Just wondering what everyone else did?

I asked this a couple of days ago and I don't think anyone was doing the drawing blood thing or had been told to by their clinic www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/4389273-Cetrotide-injections-help. I tried to do it and it was too awkward! Good luck

Awh thanks, I was nervous about having to try do that, I'll just follow the video which doesn't show it

Don't worry about drawing the blood up, it's such a faff. Make sure you pinch the skin good though and don't worry if you bleed a little at the injection side, just press down with a cotton ball. I've done this in 4 different rounds and have never ovulated.

Thank you I just did my first one I was so nervous about it all I forgot to even think about blood. The needles are different with these ones I was afraid I was going to pull it off and spill it all

@try9ng I know it's mega fiddly isn't it! I also read some horror stories of someone injecting themselves with the big yellow needle as well 😳

try9ng · 02/11/2021 12:59

It really is fiddly, too many parts. Ouch that would have hurt, the size of that needle 😳

Oh no that's horrible those needles are so big too. You see when you mix the cetrotide what does it mean by particles, I think it's fully mixed there are no lumps but with cetrotide and Luveris there looks like there could be tiny air bubbles or maybe it's solution not mixed right. But could every one I make not be mixed right? Or am I just being paranoid

You just swirl it around until the white powder is no more. When it settles after a few seconds then you'll see it's clear. It's a total fiddle drawing it back out... Need to tilt the vial so that the needle hole gets the last bit without pulling it out entirely ... Then change needle and push out the air at the top. I dont think small bubbles are a worry because it's not injecting into a blood vessel. Good luck.
