IVF Timeline

We've just received the phone calL to say our IVF funding has been approved! We're going with Bourn Hall clinic so it's a private clinic but it's being funded by the nhs - I just wondered what the timeline looks like? We've got our initial consultation next Friday (5th). How long would it take before transfer?

I only ask because I work in a school so a due date in September would be so much better for work (for me) than a due date in August. So transfer in December earliest. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you!

@C1umsyGiraffe I think it's hard to tell as depends on availability at the clinic & your cycle with meds being delivered & stuff too. From my first consultation to ET it was 3 months. Obviously it doesn't mean yours would be as long. I didn't find out dates till my nurse consultation which was the one after the initial consultation. Good luck!

Congratulations on your funding. My friend is at Bourn Hall and was due a FET on her October period, but they seem to do long down regulation so her transfer wasn't due until 2 December. But she ended up getting pregnant whilst waiting for her FET (she's been ttc 5 years and had numerous losses over that time). So I'd be optimistic but prepared that it may take longer. Good luck.

It varies so much by clinic, and depends on your protocol too, but I would be amazed if you had a transfer before December, so your main timing concern shouldn't be an issue. Good luck!

That's good to know, thanks all for the responses!
