Cheaper IVF drugs

Hi everyone,

We're about to start (private) IVF again in the next few months. Last time we did it (2018) I remember being surprised by the extortionate cost of drugs.

I don't know what drugs we'll have to buy yet - but I would be keen to see if there is any way to reduce the costs by not buying everything through the clinic.

Does anyone have any tips for ways to reduce the costs? Thanks so much.

Definitely get a private prescription from your clinic. My clinic quoted me £1300 which I didn't think was too bad to be honest based on what I've seen on here. I got mine from The Fertility Medication Centre in the end and their quote was £860 including delivery with stork. I also spoke to CRGW who said they would have price matched and bettered the quote, but jd already accepted the other quote as I wanted next day delivery to be able to start the cycle sooner!

Ah, thank you! Just getting back into thinking about all of this - really appreciate the advice. Money is tight (isn't it always?!) so keen to find ways to reduce costs.

Is CRGW your clinic - or do they do prescriptions too?

@LondonGirl80 The cheapest I have bought drugs was through Pharmasure but they only work with specific clinics and each clinic sets the price apparently. I am with CRGH and the prices were the lowest I've had.

Asda pharmacy are also really good as they don't charge profit on IVF meds. However their supplier must be more pricey than Pharmasure because it was more for the same drug. With ASDA is it worth checking the prices each time you order. Asda should be the cheapest pharmacy though. I didn't try online options.

Best of luck x

I'm not with CRGH, but they still offered to price match and better TFCM so deffo worth getting a quote off them both! It's clearly a good way of reducing a few hundred pounds without compromising anything as the meds you get will be the same

Sorry, CRGW it should say in my post

@LondonGirl80 - The cheapest I bought was through The Fertility Pharmacy.
They deliver on time & have great customer support

Definitely shop around with a few providers. They Fertility Medication Centre were nearly double the quote I had from elsewhere a couple of weeks ago! They resell from Stork & I’ve never found them cheaper than Asda or Pharmacierge over 3 cycles now.

The main ones to try are Stork, Fertility2U, Pharmacierge and The Fertility Pharmacy, plus Asda. You’ll need a copy of your prescription to get a quote.
