Hey,

Looking for some hope as just getting over my 4th MC. Any success stories out there? 😊
Xx

I’m in third trimester so can’t ( too scared) to count as success yet. Before this I had 4 mcs. One chemical and 3 mmc , between 8-9 weeks but discovered first at 12 week scan.
I’m sorry for your losses it’s awful.
Have you been referred to the recurrent mc clinic? Have you had testing done on the embryos? 💐

I had 5 miscarriages and 2 ruptured ectopics and lost both my tubes....I eventually had twins after 5 rounds of IVF x

Hey @hulahoopla thanks so much for your response and congratulations! I haven't had any testing done on embryos as these were all natural pregnancies. Unless you mean the tissue afterwards? My hospital and clinics won't offer that unfortunately. I'm with 2 reoccurent MC clinics and I'd had my womb reshaped in January this year.. Plus put on progestrone, aspirin and Clexane. So I really thought this one would work and they've put it down to bad luck this time and there's nothing more they can offer me.

@tiggerwhocamefortea thanks so much for your response too. Wow twins that's amazing! I'd really appreciate it If you wouldn't mind sharing why you went to IVF please? I've had 3 rounds of it and it didn't work for me but got pregnant the 4 times naturally. I've still got 2 frozen embryos and something has always said to me.. Maybe ivf would be better as they are 'good embryos' but im not sure there's anything in that. Did you go for IVF because of your mcs? Xx

@Rachae

Yes initially we decided to go down the IVF route as all other tests came came fine at the miscarriage clinic and the NHS just doesn't offer anything other than bog standard testing or things like progesterone support. I was age 34/35 during my miscarriages so I knew it shouldn't be age related losses. I guess I wanted to see what was actually happening in those first few days after fertilisation and whether we could speed up finding that one "good egg" (expensive way of doing it though as we paid privately 😬)

I then lost my first tube to an ectopic and that spurred me on as knew my fertility would then be further compromised

I guess I did get some answers as cycle 1 and 2 on short protocol my egg quality was really poor (less than 30% fertilised with ICSI) and that was after months of doing everything "right" . Cycle 2 I also threw in some PGS testing and neither embryos came back normal.

I did manage 3 transfers with average/poor embryos and one resulted in my second ectopic and second tube removed

I didn't feel totally ready to give up so decided to try natural modified IVF on a 3 cycle package and didn't bother PGS testing - as abnormal embryos in the U.K. have to be destroyed I decided I'd rather go through another miscarriage if it meant giving them a chance.

Natural modified seem to be the magic key as fertilisation shot up to 100% and we got 4 top quality blastocysts - 2 are my twins and I have 2 more frozen (ironically the best 2 quality ones)

Yes testing on tissue. I didn’t manage to test mine but assumed it was age related loss. It was only when I spoke to immune experts - dr Shehata and Gorgy that we realised it was immune issues ( or very likely) have you had any immune testing done? Immunes is where your body attacks your embryos as half is foreign dna ( your partners) and, as such, your body sees it as an invader. Clexane etc won’t work for this .
I took steroids, intralipids and other immune dampeners to switch off the attack.
It’s worth testing for x

@tiggerwhocamefortea wow what an ordeal for you but so pleased you for the happy ending! Thank you so much for letting me know all of that.. We're actually going to do natural cycles with our 2 frozen embryos, as we figure we've had more success getting pregnant in the first place naturally. Certainly expensive but worth it in the end 🤞🤞 xx

@hulahoopla I haven't been down that route yet, no. Thanks for the advice... Do you recommend anywhere and is there a rough estimate of the cost please? Xx
