What kind of prep do you do for FET if any?

Hi all,

First FET, previously fresh transfers where I’ve been very strict diet wise for egg collection. Just wondering what kind of prep you all do for FET - how intensive or otherwise?

I’m due for transfer in just under two weeks.
Things I’ve been doing:

  • taking my vitamins (Proceive woman, vitamin d, vitamin c, omega 3, NAC)
  • drinking cranberry juice (proper health food stuff)
  • hypnotherapy and fertility massage (will do acupuncture pre and post transfer )
  • taking probiotics
  • no alcohol

Things I’m doing that I shouldn’t:

  • not eating much veg or eating healthy in general!
  • Having 1-2 coffees a day (instant coffee)
  • Having sugar in my coffee!
  • Being outrageously stressed out and anxious!
  • not sleeping well

Any tips or things I should stop or start doing? Could be useful to have a thread on in general.

I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice, full fat milk, Brazil nuts, salmon, lots of veg, cut out alcohol & caffeine (including decaf coffee). I don’t sleep well anyway (my 2 year old wakes up every night 😅) but I have been listening to meditation to de stress and I’ve been doing gentle exercise everyday to get the blood flow to my uterus. Transfer next week, just waiting on ovulation now 😀🤞🙏

I also take ALL the vitamins 🤣 I’m still breastfeeding too so I need a tonne

That’s a good idea to some exercise to get blood flowing. I just look up some online yoga or something! I keep meaning to listen to meditation with my legs up against the wall as that’s supposed to be good too!

Good tips, I've been doing the vitamins and probiotics but I've been slack on diet, coffee and exercise.

Vitamin E is supposed to be good pre.

@Dochas121 why are you taking NAC in particular post egg collection? Wonder if I should be too.

I might book some acupuncture too.

My next transfer will be in about 3 weeks, how about you both?

I'm planning FET for early December.
I don't really know what to do to prepare. I go for acupuncture and I do a lot of yoga and walking anyway to try and help my mental health.

I'm still taking my vitamins and vitamin D spray. I only drink herbal tea and water at home, but I do have a full fat coke or 2 at the weekend.

Diet wise I'm ok I think - no fast food, some kind of veg with every main meal, most things cooked from scratch.

I don't think that mentally I could start cutting out chocolate or little treats that give me some pleasure. I'm headed for my 3rd transfer (1st FET) and feel miserable enough!

FETOCT2021 · 20/10/2021 17:50

@whatcangowrong I’ve got some Accupuncture booked in too for next week on Monday and also before and after transfer (I found it really helpful last time I did ivf).

I’m just waiting on a positive ovulation test (I think tomorrow or the day after) so I reckon my transfer will be 28th/29th.

Yes I’ve heard vit e is good.

FETOCT2021 · 20/10/2021 17:51

@Dochas121. Yes let’s up against the wall is great for this, I should do that too

FETOCT2021 · 20/10/2021 17:54

@CurbsideProphet I totally agree, it’s important to still have some pleasure. I’ve just ordered some chocolate treats from hotel chocolat - I’m not going to stuff my face but I’m defo not cutting out chocolate 😅

Sorry to hear of your previous failed transfers and that you’re feeling miserable. It’s such a hard process x

For my first FET, I did almost everything: meditation & visualisation, pineapple core, brasil nuts, 3 pairs of socks(!), super healthy diet, no coffee or alcohol, supplements etc etc.

About 5dp5dt, I realised that if the embryo was healthy and if my uterus was as it's supposed to be, then I could do nothing to stop it working. I think the preparation helped me mentally though, so I don't think it's silly.

I'm currently 2dp5dt and I haven't done almost any of it this time (though I did buy a pineapple Grin). I eat relatively healthily though.

I spoke to a friend of mine who got pregnant on both of her two transfers (1 MC , 1 baby imminent) and she said she did nothing different. Still had a coffee in the morning, ate normally and only took folic acid as a vitamin so I guess if it’s going to work it’s going to work!

My issue is I’m totally jaded after 4 years of infertility, 3 years doing IVF, 6 rounds of IVF and an outrageous amount of drama! I can’t muster up the energy to be super strict so hoping my friend is right 😂

Thanks for your other tips.
@whatcangowrong a nutritionist prescribed my vitamins and when I contacted her for what to take for transfer she included NAC! I’m due for transfer all going well on 1st or 2nd November so I probably should’ve started this thread sooner!!

Agree on the chocolate treats so I’m trying to limit to one per day and dark chocolate. I do need to up my veg content though. I’m also about half a stone overweight and I didn’t manage to lose it pre fet so I’m a bit annoyed about that. I find it very hard to shift the weight now. I’ve gained nearly 2 stone doing ivf after being slim my whole life!

I must check but I think there’s vitamin E in those supplements ie Proceive well woman etc so that would be covered there.

Good luck @Holskey fingers crossed this is the one!
