Help is my lining thinkness ok and should I take progesterone?

Hello all,

I’m currently doing a natural frozen transfer cycle. All looked well on my day 1 scan. On my day 10 scan (actually cd 11) she said my lining was 6.5 and my follicle was 16. Is this all ok? 6.5 seems really low (she said she wasn’t concerned and won’t scan me again to check).

Also they’ve offered me progesterone to take 2 days after I ovulate. They’ve said it’s up to me and haven’t given me any more information if it will help or not, should I take it? What’s the benefit?

Thanks so much, I’m so clueless!

Xxx

Just add my last transfer was fresh so it’s very different for me doing a natural FET hence why I’m confused!

It is a bit low, most clinics have a 7 or 8mm cut off. Triple layer is important too. I think my dominant follicle was 18 or 23, can’t recall which, but I don’t know if there is a minimum required.

Normally after you ovulate, they set a “day zero” at which point you’ll start progesterone. I took mine for 5 days before transfer because it was a day 5 blastocyst. I think most ladies do take progesterone, even though it’s called a ‘natural cycle’. It supports your lining and as yours is a bit lower, I’d take it. All the best, hope it’s a success.

Lining is a bit thin, but it will thicken a bit more before ovulation and it will continue growing after. Progesterone is a must even if the transfer is made on a natural cycle, it nourishes the lining. But as IslansStars mentioned, they should have established a day O from which to start progesterone. Usually, if it's a 5 day blast, you take it 5 days before transfer.
I have just done a FET on a natural modified cycle (i needed extra estrogen to help me thicken the lining). 5 days prior to transfer I took progesterone pessaries and after transfer they added progesterone shots.
My doc says that it's not only the thickness that matters but also how receptive the lining is.

Thanks both, she said that I have the triple layer lining and she really didn’t seem bothered.

My scan was last Monday and I’ve just got a positive ovulation test now so do you think my lining likely will have thickened since my scan?

I think it probably did thicken and it will continue after ovulation.
Mine was 7 the day before ovulation. I do have issues with lining and my doc takes it seriously.
I don't think your doc would have gone ahead with the transfer if she had felt that something was wrong.

Thanks for your message, I really appreciate it. What cycle day did you ovulate on? I just wonder as I ovulate on day 14 so just wondering if it takes me a bit longer for my lining to thicken

Also hope everything went ok with your FET? Xxx

Well I don’t know if I ovulate on day 14 but I get a positive opk on day 14 x

I used to ovulate on day 14, but not anymore. Now it's around day 16 or 17. I am due to test on 26.10. I am freaking out because my last IVF cycle ended in a chemical. I am very worried and scared. For the past years I have done countless tests and investigations and nothing is wrong except some issues with lining (it doesn't thicken without additional treatment).
If your opk's are positive on day14 then you might be ovulating a bit later.
I hope everything goes well for you!

Oh bless you Yuliaaa, I’m very sorry about your loss. Pregnancy loss is very hard especially when combined with ivf/infertility. I hope things go well for you xxx

@FETOCT2021 I had a successful FET cycle with 6.1mm lining. They said triple layer lining was the most important thing. Good luck!

FETOCT2021 · 21/10/2021 13:12

Aww MabelG thankyou that’s so good to know. Congratulations 🥳🥰

For natural/ natural modified FET, how do they confirm ovulation to set day 0?

I previously asked about this and whether a positive OPK and ovulation pains would be enough and my (previous) clinic said that was not enough.... so I had a medicated FET.... I haven't broached the subject with my new clinic. And just wondering: do they do blood tests or extra scans to confirm ovulation??

Yuliaaa · 21/10/2021 14:55

@spinkupromise. In my case they did blood tests and scans up until ovulation. They were monitoring E2, progesterone, LH, follicle and lining size.
