Negative pregnancy test

My daughter-in-law and son are going through IVF just now. She had an egg implanted two weeks ago today. Last Wednesday she had spotting and cramps, so we presumed that was the egg attaching to the side of the uterus. The bleeding stopped after a day.
Today she took a pregnancy test and it is negative. I don't know what to advise her. Take another test tomorrow? Or what? I don't want to give her false hope but she's devastated.

Was it a 5 day embryo? I assume it is past the official testing date the clinic gave her? If it was a 5 day embryo, I would expect a positive test by now if it had worked. Sorry. I know it's heartbreaking and impossible to know what to say Flowers

Best advice is for her to speak to her clinic.

I wouldn’t give her any advice. Just listen and say you’re there for them x

I think it's amazing that you're so close with your daughter in law that she feels safe and comfortable sharing these things with you. I wouldn't suggest, just be there for her. I hope they will have success soon!

Thank you for all the advice. Unfortunately, she is definitely not pregnant, as her period has started. This is her second round of IVF. She had 5 eggs with her first round, but none of them survived thawing.
IsabelHerna, she is from the other side of the world, so as well as being parents-in-law, I am also a stand-in mother for her as she hasn't seen her own mother for 3 years. She is a lovely woman, both outside and in. Our son is very lucky, as are we to have her as a daughter-in-law.

Sounds like you have a wonderful relationship. It must be heartbreaking to watch someone you care for go through this and not be able to do anything. I hope she gets her baby Flowers
