Infertile until 44, now pregnant

Hello ladies,

Just wanted to share this with anyone struggling to get pregnant. I got my first natural period (no contraception induced bleed) aged 36. And since then periods were only every blue moon. Had 2 rounds of Clomid aged 41, but due to illness I couldn't continue. I'm now 44 and in the last few months I had been struggling immensely with constipation and bloating etc, and a rapidly expanding waistline. I'm a slim size 8, and though the bump was getting more and more pronounced the thought that I was pregnant was simply too far fetched to even consider.

It wasn't until I decided I should see a doctor in case it's a cyst that I took a pregnancy test - something I did only because I knew the first question would be 'could you be pregnant?'. So I did... and oh my... two stripes... I had to sit down for half an hour to absorb it all. I struggled to believe it was true, maybe a false positive? So I took another one the following day. Again two stripes.

That was 2 weeks ago. I've now had my first scan and I'm 17 weeks pregnant!!

Never in a million years would I have thought this was possible... but clearly it is.
