What to do / where to start? varicocele?

DP and I have been TTC for nearly 2 years. I am 33 he is 30. My tests have come back with slightly raised testosterone but no PCOS and am being referred to gynaecology. DP's SA show no sperm (azoospermia) and has a varicocele, he has been referred to urology but the NHS wait times are 38-44 weeks. I don't feel I can wait this long!

We are considering paying privately to see mr Johnathan Ramsey. We have me told to expect to pay £1000 initially for consultation and investigations. Any further treatment I suspect will cost several thousand more.

IVF on the NHS will only find 2 cycles if DP has obstructive azoospermia and not non-obstructive. If it's down the the varicocele, this would come under non-obstructive.

We have money saved to fund several cycles of IVF/ICSI but debating whether to use some of it to see Mr Ramsey and get going quicker because of my age.

Any suggestions? Or has anyone has seen Mr Ramsey and had varicocele treatment?

@feelinglost22 you could email his PA and see if he would issue another script. He gave us a second script "just in case" which we have since used as DP was running out and doesn't have enough to see him through the 3 months post embolisation, we have reduced them to every other day instead which will take us up to when we see our NHS urologist for the SA. will see what they say then.

Good point, I'll do that now!

Thanks!

@feelinglost22 Clomiphene/Clomid was prescribed by the NHS fertility clinic where he was seen and investigated by their urologist. The urologist stated it was Oligospermia and he had low testosterone. To be fair Clomid improved his counts and in that ICSI cycle, I got pregnant with one of the 2 top quality 8 cells day 3 embryos but I sadly had a missed miscarriage. After that we did private ICSI but he was no longer taking Clomid as the private clinic never told him to take and we had no longer prescription so his counts were low like 3 mil and none of the 2 embryos made it to day 5, even though again they were top quality 8 cells on day 3, so we had nothing to transfer. At our follow up, the private clinic suggested we see mr. Ramsey or Mr. Tet Yap… I feel they should have told us before we spent almost £6k for a failed cycle. But from 2 embryos it is impossible to know whether it is eggs or sperm issue. But at least we will try to fix the sperm as not much can be done for the eggs as I am 40!
