Cycle length

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice regarding cycle length.
I have read some worrying stuff on the internet and wonder if anyone is in a similar situation.

I'm 29 I have a regular cycle however it is on the shorter side, 26 days. I ovulate around the 11th day and then get my period roughly 15 days later. I have read that a shorter cycle 26days or less is meant to mean you have a low ovarian reserve. This is very scary for me, we want to start trying for a baby next year and I'm fearful that im leaving it to long and my ovarian reserve is going to get lower and lower.
Has anyone else had short cycles and managed to conceive naturally? Should I be worried?
My doctor said anything from 21 days is fine and I don't need to worry but I read online that studies have shown this means I probably have a really low ovarian reserve.
Any support or advice would be much appreciated.
Smile

I have a 26 day cycle. I only got pregnant via IVF (that's quite common on the infertility forum so perhaps you could ask in 'conception' because most people here are undergoing fertility treatment). But my problem is absolutely not ovarian reserve. I got lots of eggs during IVF and my AMH levels were good. I'm not an expert but I don't think you've good reason to worry at all.

Thank you so much for your response, I will try writing in another forum.

I'm pleased to hear you managed to conceive ☺️
I think google can be a dangerous place, reading a lot about low ovarian reserve and it's link to shorter cycles. Some places say 21 to 34 is normal but others say anything lower than 28 is bad. I worry as I'm still only 29 and would like to hope I have t left it too late. Do you mind me asking your age ?

I'm 38 now, I was 36 when I went through IVF and, as I said, I had lots of eggs. They collected 27 and we got 10 blastocysts. I don't know what you know about IVF, but that's a great result and above average for any age. So I know my problem isn't ovarian reserve and I've always had a 26 day cycle. None of the fertility experts have ever been concerned about my cycle length so I really think this is a none issue.

Like I said though, if you're looking for people who got pregnant naturally with a shorter cycle, this isn't the place to find them because most of us are having fertility treatment for all kinds of reasons, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who get pregnant naturally with shorter cycles.

I don't think 26 days is too short, but don't take my word for it.

It seems that those with shorter cycles are over the age of 30 or in there late 30s. I'm only 29 this is where my concern is.
Ovulating on day 11 some months and others day 12-13. My cycle is sitting around 25-26 at the moment.
I think because I'm on the shorter side in worried this means I have less eggs. Doctor has said as long as my cycle is 21-35 she's not worried yet you read that this is a sign of being less likely to get pregnant specially at my age?
I guess all I can do is try and then worry, fingers crossed 🤞

@Butterfliess I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Why do you think it means you have fewer eggs? If you really want to know you can get tests done but I’m not sure I’d be worried at 29. Lots of women have 26 day or shorter cycles.
