OPK and hormones

I did a natural FET two years ago and had to detect ovulation using an OPK, call the clinic when the surge was detected, FET scheduled for 6 days after.

They recommend clear blue digital - flashing smiley face for high fertility, static smiley face for peak fertility.

Two years ago, I had several days of high fertility before getting the static face indicating peak fertility.

I'm doing another natural FET this month and for the last few months, I've not had any high fertility days. It just goes from nothing to peak fertility.

Does this mean - in terms of hormones - that I'm less fertile than two years ago? Would appreciate any knowledge, experience, or even guesses on the matter!

It does seem rather poor that they are asking you to use an OPK to detect ovulation. What are your cycles like; are they for instance irregular in nature?.

They should be doing blood tests like a day 21 test to measure progesterone levels to determining whether ovulation has occured or not.

Yes, I was surprised by the low-tech nature of it 2 years ago! But it did work first time. I think we'd go another route if I had irregular periods, but my cycle is pretty reliable, fortunately. If it doesn't work this time, we'll think about a medicated FET to minimise the potential of poor timing.
